Thanks for uploading this video. Visited St Brides with my dad when I was a kid (wean). The Douglas family were great stalwarts of Scottish independence and the equal in military terms to any of the powerful Northern English feudal Lords … Percy’s etc

Sadly the Folly is all that is left of Douglas Castle (also known as Castle Dangerous). Nice to see inside the Kirk as I didn't know his heart was kept in it.

Two Logan's lost their lives in the battle with the Moors. In 1330 the brothers Sir Robert Logan of Restalrig and Sir Walter Logan along with Sir James Douglas loyla to Rober the Bruse lost their lives in the battle with the Moors of Spain. They were bearing the heart of their King Robert the Bruce clad in a silver case on their pilgrimage to the Holy Land.

Hello Hayden, The exterior of the building is always open to the public. The Covid situation complicates things. Churches were all closed however they were opening again - the second spike may stop this. A museum and shop stands nearby and they gave me access to the interior, however this may be shut as I think volunteers ran it. The remains of the castle are nearby with public access at all times. Good luck.

Hayden, this is very strange..My name is Reese Dickson, I too am going back to Scotland to visit the land of my forefathers...My ancestors name is Thomas Dickson, he was a very good friend and distant cousin of Sir James Douglas and fought along side him with William Wallace and Robert the Bruce. Thomas Dickson went along with Sir James Douglas when he went to retake his castle Douglas from the English. Sadly, Thomas was killed with a sword slash across his belly. It is said he was seen holding his belly to hold his guts in while still fighting with sword raised high. Thomas and his descendants were later ceded lands south of Douglas in perpetuity by Robert the Bruce for his faithful service and bravery in battle. That was the year 1307. The Douglas and Dickson were great friends always.

What does the inscription say ? It's hard to make out. Who's heart is on the left and who's heart is on the right ? Thank you so much for making this video. Blessed be.

@@rogergriffith286 Interesting enough, I have an illness that is called "Coupe de Sabre" I have developed a sword slash that was traveling down my face and up my skull. I asked all the doctors what this was ..... And when he told me, he said I was killed in battle with a sword 🗡️ to the head. 🤔
