Unfortunately too many people have gotten to a place where the thought is "I want therefore I need". Having enough is a wonderful place to be. You have a place to do your work, food for your belly and a guitar for entertainment and most importantly, each other. You are the wealthiest of people, thanks for sharing. It looks great and I look forward to seeing you continue to develop and appreciate your dreams.

You should be proud of that building, I was a carpenter for about 27 years so perhaps I see more than a lot of people. The first thing I noticed was the X bracing under the shop looks like where the two braces come together at a 90 degree corner you mitered them together like crown molding. Beautiful attention to detail ! Then the little detail cuts on the facia boards and the rafter profiles, nice. And if you put up drywall think of all the places for tools lost. This space was designed to be functional and efficient and when those two elements are so well combined beauty is a consequential by product . Thanks for the new video, always appreciated, Lee

Presently surprised by the leather adze cover. Simple, functional and very nicely done. Nothing wrong with your shop, it's pretty awesome imo. It's not easy having to do things like that without a lot of money. Most people don't understand what it's like to live like that but some of us do. I'd rather live out in the woods where things can be harsh sometimes than in some city where everything is easy. Wish I had money to send you...but thanks for sharing your stories and talent. (Edit) I am concerned that you have not received any stimulus money. It most certainly is NOT a government hand out, it’s merely our own damn tax money back. I know other people and small businesses that have been screwed hard by Uncle Sam by receiving nothing while large corporations are feeding heavily off the public trough. Don’t know who you can call but you two deserve that money, it’s YOUR money, not a handout. Take it, spend it, improve your life. And ours by continuing to share! Thanks again.

I have two questions for you. First, how do you keep your tools from rusting in your open workshop, and secondly when using a leather strop to do the final sharpening will there come a point, with use, when that is not enough and you step back to the sandpaper? Thanks.
@CarvingAPath
3 жыл бұрын
Everything that I use to forage with my hammers and all of my tools and tongs I bring them in every night after work. But all of my tools see continuous use I handle them every day and I think that is mainly what prevents them from Rusting . And yes you are correct about the sharpening. You can get away with just stropping for a really long time. There are two things that would make you need to go back to the sandpaper. One is hitting a piece of sand or something that could put a small Nick in your cutting edge.The other is holding your strop at the wrong angle and putting too steep of a secondary bevel on your cutting edge. But if you use your strop correctly you don’t have to go back to sandpaper for a really really long time anyways I hope this answers your questions and also thank you for your interaction we really appreciate that

Well I've seen others of your videos, and learned a lot. I've enjoyed the information on carving and sharpening etc. But carving out a place, and learning to survive and thrive is very important. I look at the world we live in and I know that the city is no place for us to be. It is no place to raise a family. We don't know what will come next in this world but being out in God's creation will allow you to be free from many of the taints that plague society these days. It may not seem like freedom sometimes, but just know that what you have, even though its a struggle, is freedom that many long for, but don't know how to get. Because of this video I am subscribing. Don't worry about appearances, it's good for people to finally see authenticity. I'll pray for you two and wish for you every success in the future. God Bless!
