Sierra Leone’s new president, Julius Maada Bio, recently traveled to the United States to attend the United Nations General Assembly. Maada Bio has made big promises including free education and tackling corruption. In an interview with my colleague, Jessica Stone, the Sierra Leone president discussed a range of issues, including his country’s relationship with China. Cameroon’s electoral commission is calling for patience while it tallies the votes from Sunday’s presidential election. President Paul Biya is seeking his seventh term. Official results aren’t expected for another couple of weeks, but already opposition candidates are claiming victory.
