It's frustrating too because a lot of the people saying "don't diagnose yourself from social media, why is everyone diagnosing themselves these days???" also make videos like, "5 signs you have ADHD" or "things i thought were normal before i was diagnosed", which people watching then relate to and start saying "wait, do i have adhd maybe?" so like...no, don't go buy black market ritalin or whatever, but if you see enough signs in yourself to say "this is a thing that resonates with me and if i start acknowledging that and finding ways to help it, instead of beating myself up when i struggle," then i don't think there's anything wrong with not having a formal diagnosis.

I absolutely agree with you! It's also the tone of these people that I find inadequate (to say the least). So condescending... and unnecessary. But you bring up a very good point that I didn't even think of myself... Black market medication. This is sth I'd never consider for myself but I get sad thinking about how many people feel the need to resolve to this for lack of better alternatives. Thank you for your comment! 🌿

Okay but "Schade Schokolade" is about as beautiful as the Dutch "Helaas Pindakaas." And thank you for this video.

Also imagine making even getting diagnosed this difficult... it would be terrible for people without ADHD, let alone those of us with it!!! Same goes for autism: the test for a diagnose is actually NOT AUTISM FRIENDLY OR ORIENTED. It makes SO much sense that people self-diagnose. And those people who do self-diagnose don't do that after ONE tiktok. They do so after recognisubg almost everything in about seventy of those AND extensive extra research. They're also not doing it to feel 'special', they do it to understand and help themselves a little better. Also who does it really hurt?? What of it if someone finds some useful tips online? Even if they do misdiagnose, a lot of those people will NEVER use it as an excuse, just as an explanation. They'll just get some useful info to make their life a little bit better, and that does not affect ANYONE else's life.
