This camera and lens is generally considered by many to be the best fixed lens rangefinder camera ever made. Mine has suffered the sticky shutter these bodies tend to acquired with age and disuse, but there is a YT video on how to pull the lens and clean the shutter - surprisingly easy to do. You have used yours far more than I've used mine. You have motivated me to do that job and burn some film in the near future.

Hey Randall, yes it is indeed considered the best fixed lens rangefinder ever build and with good reason. The gentleman with the video on KZitem in which he repairs the shutter assembly is the individual I’ve bought my copy from. He’s Jeffrey Guthrie from Japan Vintage Camera and I can highly recommend him. Stellar work and great customer service. I bought my copy fully overhauled as I knew there would be a possibility I wanted to use it as my daily driver if I liked the camera and I’m glad I did. It’s truly a real daily driver. Happy I’ve been able to motivate you Randall. The Konica IIIA is so much fun. Thanks so much for watching!

Thanks so much! They sure are. The is a Konica Hexanon 50mm 1.9 made for the Leica M39 AKA Leica screw mount. Wouldn’t mind having that one mounted on a Konica Hexar RF. Thanks so much for watching.

I just bought the Konica III thanks to your video's. I agree, lenses do need character. At least for my kind of shooting. New lenses leave me a little flat in that area. I enjoy Konica 35mm lenses on my Fuji digital cameras too due to their character. Nice video. You sold me!

Hey man glad I was able to be of some help. I totally love my IIIA indeed not just due to the exceptional build quality but definitely the quality and character the lens provides. The total experience of the Konica IIIA is just amazing all around. Thanks so much for watching.

I purchased the 48mm f2 lens version from Japan last night, I had options of both lenses but chose that version. Hope I got the right one.

just wondered if you have any thoughts about this lens vs the hexanon 48mm f2, which was made for iiia's sold in japan. i've heard that lens has a tad more contrast and sharpness. anyway, thanks for the great review. keep up the good work.

Hi Rusty! According to Dante Stella in this article www.dantestella.com/technical/koni3.html the 50mm is a tad sharper. So me saying that would be hearsay at best. I cannot vouch for the 48mm but I’m sure it’s a great little performer and due to its smaller size a bit more true to its form factor. I can however definitely vouch for the 50mm and it’s truly a stellar lens. Contrast is great right out of the gates. You won’t see any significant price difference between the two. If you decide to purchase one let me know what you went for. Thanks so much for watching!
