The term "hidden curriculum" refers to the unwritten, informal teachings that occur in school. These are not part of the formal curriculum that outlines the academic content; rather, they are the lessons learned through the culture of the school, the behaviors of teachers, and the social interactions between peers. This concept was first identified by Philip Jackson in 1968, who noticed that schools teach much more than just the academic syllabus.
