sorry to upset the apple cart but the Wild Rover is a 17th century English Song! "The Wild Rover', a song widely known amongst the general public and commonly believed to be Irish, has its origin in a seventeenth-century English broadside written by Thomas Lanfiere, one of a class of moralizing 'alehouse ballads' of the period.

Because St. Patrick's Day was cancelled this year of 2020 I was listening to this music to cheer me up. Is there anything in this world more cheerful than Irish music ? A real rush of memories....when I was a young lad (14) in southern Ontario (lates'60's), we raised money for our pipe band by hosting a number of Irish bands in a series of concerts. I can still remember sitting around our dining room table with Tommy Makem and the Clancy brothers drinking and singing this very song. I even played the tin whistle while the guys drummed on the table and sang. Over 50 years ago now, but the memories are so clear and vivid that it could have been yesterday. Sláinte Mhaith.

He use to dress up like they did in which ever period they were covering. He was placed overseas a lot and experienced many different cultures. When he covered the Mideast and Islam he split up the girls and boys and had the girls wear head covering and they were only able to talk when a male gave them permission. He said that was the most interesting class cause the girls were totally pissed off the whole time

My friend met an Irish lass in the 80's. He brought her over from Dublin to the Rhondda Valleys where she was introduced to the locals in The Royal Oak. We sang, as we did back then, and she sang too, cockles and mussels was one that we loved and she also sang this.... She had such a beautiful voice she she silenced the room. We were enthralled and we were happy - and when we sang the chorus with her we took the roof off. Oh the memories are as fresh now as they were then. This song will always remind me of that lovely girl and whenever I hear it I wonder what she is doing now. And whether she remembers her visit to the Rhondda.

By a stroke of luck I found myself in Ireland and though I'm back in India, I can't seem to get out of Ireland!

The High Kings just officially rule. I plan to move to the UK in the future. I've always loved the English, Scottish, Welsh, and Irish. They're all the best.

Ну, по разному бывает. Мне вот, дагестанские народные песни не нравятся, хоть я сам из Дагестана, а вот ирландские нравятся) У скандинавов ещё очень красивая музыка.

Same here. Been listening to them for years, though I kind of feel they are not as good after Martin Furey ( the guy on the far left ) had left the band. Never expected to see a Saudi here though.

I just love how even before the song even begins you can hear one man in the audience singing "NO NAY NEVER NO MORE~" (mostly just the end, "-ORE")
