As a former Deadhead who followed the band around for a bit and did my share of LSD as well as watched over people who were tripping balls. . . you can't always tell. Someone on a trip can sound and act normal, even a little more subdued than usual. It depends on the dosage and time elapsed. Based on the story, Doc was probably on the way down when he took the mound, meaning his visuals would be weird and sounds would be funny, but he was past the "I can taste colors!" stage. The discrepancy in timing also makes sense. LSD can screw with your sense of time, recent memory formation, and order of events understanding. So for Doc, it felt like he got there 90 minutes before the first pitch because his brain compressed the time. Everyone else saw him wander in on time, and probably very quiet during the team meeting and pre-game warm-ups. Another great video!

As a Pirates fans, I can attest that Dock was a wild man, one the great baseball characters of all time. I've never had a favorite Athlete until now and I'm a degenerate fan Dock is my favorite athlete, from any sport I've spent the last 35 years watching. In life, you have to take the good as well as the bad. Dock seemed to chase his _bad_ , with a handful of pills and that's tragic, truly. @@georgec5212 Last time I checked, white men weren't enslaved for hundreds of years, and, to this day, don't experience racism to a remotely comparable degree that minorities do. For you to play devil's advocate, saying "what would a minority have to do to justify the same violence from a white man" is distasteful, redundant, and quite honestly, an idiotic question. Because it implies that, somehow, white men are just as significantly affected by racism as the minorites of this country are, which, throughout human history, is simply categorically false. Please do research on systemic racism, look at the history, white people never were, and still are not, victims of racism. This "what if the roles were reversed?" bullshit is so ridiculous, the mindset a 9 year old child would have. Because there would be a clear line when you crossed it you get punched in the mouth. We removed consequences for actions. Made racism one sided arguments.
