Every time you cover a song, it's like your telling a story. I can just sit here and close my eye's and see it happening. It's amazing, thank you.

Whoa. You're like an Ennio Morricone for country music or something. I'm sitting in the dark 5pm monsoons here in my city of Bombay, India, with a fever, wanting something that will make the gloom seem more tolerable. Somehow with your single instrument I feel like I'm in the middle of 19th century wild west Southern US looking into the starry night from a town off the Mojave desert. And then I love the gloom outside my window even more. Thank you, I wouldn't expect this to be a cover. Sounds like an absolute god gifted professional

Lyrics: I was a highwayman Along the coach roads I did ride With sword and pistol by my side Many a young girl lost her baubles to my trade Many a soldier shed his lifeblood on my blade They finally hung me in the spring of twenty-five But I am still alive I was a sailor I was born upon the tide And with the sea I did abide I sailed a schooner round the Horn to Mexico I went aloft and furled the mainsail in a blow And when the yards broke off they said that I got killed But I am living still I was a dam builder Across the river deep and wide Where steel and water did collide A place called Boulder on the wild Colorado I slipped and fell into the wet concrete below They buried me in that great tomb that knows no sound But I am still around Yes, I'll always be around and around and around and around and around and around I fly a starship Across the Universe divide And when I reach the other side I'll find a place to rest my spirit if I can Perhaps I may become a highwayman again Or I may simply be a single drop of rain But I will remain And I'll be back again, and again and again and again and again and again and again Songwriter: Jimmy Webb

Agreed. He’s made some of these songs “his own” - like how Cash made Hurt his with his cover (Trent even said so).

I was expecting the one with “...the landlord’s black eyed daughter, Bess...” and the shot in the night, instead here’s this sad and beautiful ballad of lives and deaths through the years. You always find such touching songs, even the contemporary ones, and put your own special flavor to them, thank you.

Today, I found out my uncle, who is more like my father, has cancer. It is very prevalent in our family and tends to take the family members and inflicts. My son sent me this song from you and I'll be forever grateful that he did because it brought me comfort today. You and your music brought me comfort in a really difficult time, and I appreciate that more than you'll ever know. Thank you for sharing your gift with everyone.
