Saint-Malo, located on the northwestern area of France and on the southern shore of the English Channel is a walled city first established by the Gauls in the first century BC. It has a strong historic tie to Canada as it is from this port that Jacques Cartier sailed in 1534 to explore the Saint-Lawrence and Baie-des-Chaleurs regions of Eastern Canada.
