This series was the best spider-man portrayal so far to date. Even with all the limitations and issues with it, the storylines, continuous plot, guest stars and voice acting make it iconic.

I never noticed this as a kid, but years later saw how good the writing was. In the last ep: Spider Man can't beat Spider Carnage in a fight, but is in a universe where that Spider Man never learned the Great Power Great Responsibility Lesson, But Spider Carnage is a clone of him and Main Spider Man knows himself so well, that the only person who can help, and who He/Spider Carnage would listen to, is Uncle Ben, As he only learned the Power/Responsibility Lesson from losing Ben, He knew himself so well, he knew what to do, and that it was in this world by putting together the pieces subtly revealed organically in the 2 eps. So he got Uncle Ben to try to talk sense into Spider Carnage and win through heart and mind instead of fist. Truly a great show

If Across the Spider-Verse had included the scene with a universe made up of toys and hands playing with them, I honestly would have burst into tears of just joy.

Spider-man the animated series was my childhood! I still remember the kids at my Elementary school debating who was better: Venom or Carnage? Personally, I like both. Also, this was the Spider-man Series that introduced me to villains like Alistair Smythe, Kingpin, Spider-Slayers, and different Spider-men like Octo-Spidey, Man-Spider, and Spider-Carnage. So naturally, I was hoping future series would add them, but NOPE!

I remember when it premiered. I was already a huge X-Men fan and Spider-Man was just icing on the cake. Every weekly allowance went towards some kind of Marvel Comics action figure. That was the absolute best time to be a kid in my opinion. Batman, X-Men, Spider-Man, Power Rangers. Star Wars was relaunched soon after. Wrestling exploded a few years later. Video games were revolutionary. Home computers were becoming a regular household item. The internet was in its infancy. There was no social media. Your attention span wasn’t being destroyed by your phone. Kids played with toys and outside. Arcades existed. Childhood will never be that fun again.

Dang! I'm so grateful to be born in the 80's. Saturday mornings in 92 was the best. X-men, batman, then spiderman. Fox Kids was killing it!

YES! THIS, THIS is the Spider-Man I grew up with, and it's the one I think of the most to this day. Ed Asner (RIP) was probably the best voice for JJJ in any animated incarnation (followed by Daran Norris in The Spectacular Spider-Man). To this day, in an age where X-Men: The Animated Series AND both the 1994 Iron Man and Fantastic Four cartoons have gotten complete Region 1 home media releases, it's utterly astonishing that Spider-Man (and the 1996 Incredible Hulk) still haven't.

And in case Spider-Man: TAS gets a true sequel set years later, Spidey better wear the Unlimited suit, not unlike how the Batman Beyond suit came into being in the DCAU.

I remember catching bits of the 70's live action series and thinking Spider-Man wasn't anything special. Then I saw this show and saw just how *dynamic* his powerset allowed him to be.

I was pleasantly surprised with the theme. Aerosmith influence on Spidey on the 90s was comparable to U2 on Batman (in fact THE EDGE did the 2005 Animated Show theme for the first two seasons)

Can we FINALLY get an UNEDITED Spider-Man: the Animated Series on DVD box set, please?! It's been almost 30years, and is STILL a fan favorite, clearly it has stood the test of time. I've been watching superhero shows since as early as I can remember (early 80s) and this contends with BTAS for the top spot. Superb writing, character development, art style, voice casting -- this show has it ALL!!

Absolutely loved this show. Definitive Spidey series for me. And when you watch videos like this and others and realize just how many restrictions were on this show, and yet despite that it still turned out as good as it did and is still just as enjoyable to this day is a real testament to the work of the team behind the show. The theme song is a bonafide classic and that green goblin arc is an all timer. And while it didn't get traditional series finale, I actually like where it ended. Knowing that after all his trials and tribulations throughout the show that Peter may actually get a happy ending with MJ no less even if we don't see felt good.

I can still hear the theme in my head!! I keep a copy of the full series on my harddrive, along with batman the animated series, X-men and Swat Kats. Growing up with Cartoon Network and Fox in the Netherlands these were must watch shows while I was growing up and they still hold a special place in my heart.

I was such a little comics nerd back then. It bothered me to no end that Hobgoblin was introduced BEFORE Green Goblin. The X-Men cartoon drove me crazy for similar deviations from established comics canon. Because of this show I have the words "NEOGENIC RECOMBINATOR" permanently taking up valuable space in my brain...

I love that show. It was my first real dive into Spider-Man. I came at just the right time when Inwas into the more gritty heroes, again, thanks to Batman. I even watched it with my dad as a kid and was amazed when he recognized Shocker before he was identified by anyone. Looking back I love the angle they took where Osborne was more a victim of The Kingpin rather than a real villian. And having the Hobgoblin appear first as little more then a street punk with fancy gear provided by Osborne to take out the Kingpin was really interesting. And the mutual respect between Peter and Doc Ock as scientists really helped make him more interesting. It has been pointed out that the Sam Raimi trilogy took quite a bit from the Animated series.

This show right here is what made me get in love with Spider Man as the character, including the first Toby Maguire spider man film. I can re-watch this show anyday, I have seen it about 6 times now from beginning till end, all seasons are watchable and fun, but it also had some nice dramatic moments when needed. The Hydro-Man Returns Pt.1 and Pt.2 comes in mind when we talk about emotional moments. But there were so many great episodes, I just wish we weren't left on the cliffhanger, each time I re-watch the series and get to the end I just can't help but want more and want answers! Either way, if you never seen this show and you are spidey fan then do yourself a favor and watch it, you will not regret it. Yes, it outdated at this point but who cares when the story is on point, plus I still love the animation to this day. Venom's design being one of my favorites, so scary looking 😂 as a kid I was terrified by Venom, his voice and his design just send shivers down my spine, but that one of the things that makes this show so good. This is definitely and most likely still my favorite Superhero Animated Show! Not only for Nostalgia reasons but it's actually damn good, if a show makes me re-visit it 6 times than in my books it's iconic, it's a masterpiece. But I am not going to lie I also loved X-Men Animated Series (90s) also, Invincible is also became one of my favorites (the most recent Adult Animated Superhero Show) and I also have a soft spot for Batman Beyond, I think it hugely underrated and if you are a Batman fan definitely check it out, I know some people put off by that show for one reason or another but give it a shot, if you not hooked after season 1 than I don't think the rest of the seasons will make you want to stay and keep watching but I had a blast with that series more so than the Batman Animated Series... I know, I am probably the only one. I can't believe I am saying this but I might need to re-watch this again, this show is like a cozy blanket for me.. I put it on and all of my problems just disappear for a little while, i just get lost in it and forget about everything else that is going on in my life.

Better Spider-Man: TAS' ambiguous cliffhanger than The Spectacular Spider-Man's unresolved one, to be blunt.
