You probably do not take compliments easily but clearly scholarship and eloquence and combining it a very clear and artful way. So I learned so much and feel on firmer foundational ground for my life long practice of astrology that goes back to the 1970,s. I feel more curious and humbly competent than ever before so thank you for the great community work you do. I feel on your last points more and more the triplicities of view than the polarities. I can comfortably know have an overview from siderial that infuses my tropical approach. I know embrace whole sign houses as my basic systems but enjoy the nuance of some of the quadrant systems.. yes to the outer lanets rythyms and timing even though they are invisible we now know about them. So from the activity and fixed another mutable birthing can happen

I'll see what I can do at some point. It is tricky because those approaches are very different than most of the forms of western astrology, and I'm not very familiar with them. Plus it is hard knowing who is a good authority in that field.

I am SO grateful to you Chris for being such an amazing scholar and great teacher. I would probably not have gotten into astrology if it wasn't for you. Modern astrology never resonated with me, but when I began listening to your podcast it all clicked - I had been looking for traditional astrology all along! I also appreciate that although you have preferences of style, you are so very respectful of all styles and encourage all your students to also be respectful and see value in the differences. We need that so much! I will try to live by your example. Thank you!

This was a wonderful lecture, thank you. Your reminder about humility and respect within the community and the role of astrologers continuing this movement is really quite beautiful. I'm also grateful for the recommendations of where translation is still needed because I'd love to brush up on those skills and take part. I completed graduate studies concentrating on the Near East, mostly working with Greek and Arabic, with Arabic being my stronger language, but I left academia to follow other pursuits. I've been studying astrology for a few years but only recently began diving into the classical works, so this is a good push to have something to work towards. I could never quite fully put away that incredible period and move on, so it's nice to think I might one day have a go at translating again. One last thing -- watching your video was such a warm reminder of grad school (I know, who says that). You explain things with such ease and clarity! Anyhow, again, thank you!

I believe the future will see more people using both tropical and sidereal zodiacs instead of adamantly sticking to one or the other, and then this will eventually usher in a new understanding of astrology. This has to be inevitable since the cognitive dissonance and denial has weak foundations and can only last so long. At the moment we only have a handful of people like Hank Friedman (the creator of SolarFire) who pioneer using both systems. And he's discovered some very interesting things from doing so.

I have just DISCOVERED astrology the past two years and your podcasts have helped enormously to inspire and clarify. I myself have become more active in my social media as I seek to return to my publishing life that I had before I became a psychologist for the community. Very insightful and valuable, as usual, Chris. Thanks. But i have to mention (because it was inexplicably omitted in the video) that the Iberian Peninsula consists of Spain and Portugal. In reality, Portugal it's not only much older that Spain, but it's the country with the oldest established and immutable borders in the world (almost 900 years ...) and, if countries were ordered by seniority, Portugal (1143) would only be supplanted by Eastern empires (which seem immune to time) and by England (1066). Finally, as i'm sure you also know, Portugal has one of the richest and more influential histories in the expansion (the Portuguese explorers were responsible for discovering more than 70% of the world previously unknown to Europeans) and development of the world until the times in which we live today (This is not patriotism...only true and important historical facts).

I'm a reader of ancient texts but I don't have time to read them all. So I appreciate this summary of history. What brought me to your video is a passage in the Book of Jasher Chapter 8:1-12 (describes eastern sky before sunrise -1952 Feb 17th-27th astronomy program dates). The Book of Enoch has interesting astronomical descriptions and according to Manetho, Panodorus explained that UFO pilots explained how time is kept which supports day (year) 4 of creation in Genesis. Very important history.

Chris, I suggest you get in touch with Nietzsche, Freud, Lacan, Derrida and Deleuze to understand the paradigm of the 20th century in terms of conditions of subjectivity. I get the feelling your methology is archive based in an estructuralistic manner leaving behind the depth of a paradigm. Thema Mundi in the end focuses on the universe in a mammal point of view wether in the 20th century, focusing in aries as the beggining assumes a non human centered point of view, to mention a few great differences that are not cuantificable, like a mere opposite or equivalent table but a jump into another conception. It did not start with the hippies in the usa. Thank you for your engagement.

First of all I love & appreciate your teachings so much, I love how we as a “collective “ are reLearning our past teachings, to allow us to understand why we are, who we are, & where we are today. - to respond about how being able to go online, or an app or what not to pull up “ones birth chart”. This is doing 2 things. (From my experience) either making a person dig deeper into astrology, astronomy, & even going to our own ancestral teachings. 2. ) Other folks, are simply saying “yeah, I got my birth chart I’m a sun, moon, asc...but then they do not know what it means & or do not do the work to understand it. 30 plus years ago when Astrology sparked an interest to myself, stargazing, the moon, moon ceremonies, to reading astrology, spiritual, dream books, but with Astrology focusing on the Zodiac Sun signs, & compatible love matches. So, I see the app users (younger , looking for love still looking at astrology in that way.) where as now, I love the patterns, I can see how things from 71,81,91,2001 all hold similarities. In my life.(and in the world). We are in a crossroads, a time of change, “A rebirthing of ASTROLOGY “ #ITAstrolology TechnologyAstrology☮️🤍🙌🏽

One question. I’m starting a local astrology group- I’ve put together points from all your videos on house divisions, but I want to ask: do you have an assessment of which house divisions work best in which scenarios? I want to leave room for all understandings but it makes sense that house division techniques are tools with specific applications. In the video on placidus y’all mentioned that solar returns has been empirically established as a practical use for placidus.

These subjects I find extremely fascinating about astrology which I wasn’t aware of and it’s also fascinating it survived. With the end, I’ve definitely softened my stance on various forms of astrology more since deep diving up to pop astrology because this probably plays a big part in both keeping astrology alive and also introducing new people to it even if it’s not exactly that great. I still have a dislike of sun sign astrology where there’s something about the sun itself that makes me not interested where I listened to the recent sun episode again recently finding it funny the guest (Demetria) has similar sun placements (sun Leo in 12th) noticing even her sun placement with I think Saturn… there’s a similar early life experience, yet, sun sign astrology left a bad taste in my mouth where I somehow missed that the first time. 😆 But it actually helps astrology introduce everyone to the basic concepts where the choice of interest is there if anyone wants to go down that road. It’s just I never found Leo sun relatable in that system. The part of astrology I’m finding the most interesting is there are so many angles and focuses that whatever fits an individual there’s an astrology path with it. For me, triggering a deep dive (I’ll make an astrology joke with Neptune transiting pisces in my 7th) was having KZitem push the Venus episode with Tarnas on my suggestion feed unbelievable incessantly where it made me push back because I thought my draw to it was just me being all libra superficial just drawn to it for that reason and then the weird coincidence of actually (abnormally) getting into deep Tolkien lore prior to caving to listen to the episode and the Jung one back to back where it made sense. I can’t help the self depreciating joke with that, but my deep dive is actually headed towards mythology in astrology where Becca may end up being a big focus to learn more on the mythological elements along with some other astrologers in that field. For me, it’s awkward because I’m not the type to enjoy reading others charts, but I do enjoy looking for natal patterns with artists, musicians, authors, etc.. that may trigger a chart dynamic. I’m still deep diving, lately I’m interested in part of spirit because I think it’s linked to synchronistic phenomenon or Campbell’s follow your bliss; how to distinguish between various impulses to find which is actually that spirit or daimon. Mainly, it’s the various connected philosophy’s where I wouldn’t mind actually sitting down and laying out the actual philosophies and world views you’d have to adopt to believe in astrology which can take many forms where they also interconnect up to… a person may despise astrology which may actually be in their natal chart as something they’re just not here to do in this lifetime. One odd synchronicity was where I left off in cosmos and psyche where it’s sort of like asking a “god” a question where many ask for material gains, I brought that same scenario up to someone about another subject where I would personally ask questions more existential; I often find myself feeling this deep dive is a waste of time and then I get into areas where existential concepts are answered which may be why I’m being pulled into astrology. Never know, maybe my 11th house profection year with cancer (11th) zodiacal release I’ll find myself actually using all of this for something I’m unaware of as of yet. Life’s mysteries. It is actually weird that a uranus transit to LoS ended up through years of synchronicities that lead to socrates daimon that I didn’t pay attention to until it was brought up in astrology. If anyone complains about the dry presentation and the duration, I actually find I mentally drift off for hours pondering episodes hours after listening most of the time. Good times.

This was so good on so many levels. I realize it was an overview but what an overview! I'm a history buff, and agree that if we don't know where we came from, we won't have a clear view of where we're going. Also, I didn't realize Mercury rules Astrology. I'd always understood that it was Uranus, Neptune or even Jupiter. Mercury makes sense because of the Hermetic relation.

Thank you so much for this episode, utterly enjoyed it and learned a lot. Really helps me to contextualize astrology. I think it is so important to have some sense or idea of the history of astrology, to see the different ways and frameworks people throughout time have used to interpret the world around them, specifically the heavens. Also makes you really appreciate the genius of this long line of astrologers and how cool it is that we still have these records of the past. It's clear from listening to this talk that astrology is not a static thing or system, but rather an approach to divining the heavens and extracting the information we want and need out of it, and that this changes as our culture and understanding of the world changes. So I feel like astrology is more of an art than a science, although it is definitely in a huge and substantial part also the latter.
