Great stuff. Looking forward to the continuation of the series. I've been playing off and on since 99 and I've got tons of cards as far back as Unlimited. Only play MTG Arena nowadays though.

I really love the aestethics of the cards up until 2003. Especially the artworks. Most of them, if not all, clearly looks hand made. It doesn't look too "perfect" as most of the artworks do today. Don't know if it's because they're mostly drawn digitally? Or maybe they're just too perfectly hand made, I don't know 😅 Could also be the materials used in the paint. Or if most today draw a sketch ny hand, then later scan it and color it digitally maybe? Hmmm 🤔 Anybody knows? 😊

Most cards artwork back in the day, even as late as 2010, were painted by hand. Now, most artwork is done digitally. I appreciate a lot of the new art, but there's just a special place for the older art.

"...definitely an interesting thing that Cartamundi did and im not even sure why they decide to do this, but it is information that can be given out in this video" This straight up sounds like a research note to self that ya decided last minute to just straight up say when you actually filmed it for kicks, lol; love it regardless. Great video, subbing in case this series continues

I'm into this series! Definitely subbed to watch more as they come. One thing I will say (since I am not a magic player) I can tell you use terms commonly used by magic players but do not explain what those terms mean. This would make the videos longer though and I can understand how it can slow down parts as well. So its not necessarily needed. But It would be nice at times.

I have been toying with the idea of making the videos for each quarter as opposed to a full year to shorten runtime and get these out in a more regular basis. If I were to do that, I could absolutely be a bit more descriptive of terms, keywords etc each video. I am actually just about to launch a poll and see how people feel about it!

My dad held a tournament in my town Grass Valley/Nevada City California in 1994 with about a dozen players and the top 2 players had a Lightning Bolt Deck pitted against a Plague Rats Sol Ring Deck. ... The Bolts won of course.

That's amazing. I had personally never seen anything like it, but it's cool to hear that some people actually did build crazy decks like that.

To put things into perspective: Edgar/Summer was not released untill after Fallen Empires. I can still recall a guy coming up to me trying to sell a blue hurricane for 25 bucks and I just laughed at him (little did we know). Also you mentioned that Legends gave us the first cycles. This is not ttrue. I started with alpha. Everyone knows the dreaded lace cycle, but also one of the most powerfull cycles in 1 for 3: Healing Salve, Lignting Bolf, Giant Growth, Dark Ritual and the infamous Ancestrall recall (and yes Richard Garfield knew this card was over the top, but he thought that people wouldn't buy soo many cards so it would be fine) Still a great efford and a nice trip down memory lane

I just wanted to clarify, I mentioned in my video at 21:27 that this was the first EXPANSION set that has cycles. Alpha/Beta/Unlimited are core sets and I went into their cycles in my previous video. Give it a watch if you haven't 🙂

@@ralfxephon1 That's awesome! I have been playing this wonderful game since 2000, but was surrounded by it from as early as 1995. Truly such an awesome game that brings us all together.
