I have never seen or heard of a breeder with as much dedication that you have to the research of your breed. I'm early 20s, never owned my own dog before but have lived with them my whole life. If the day ever came for me to buy my own dog, I would expect nothing less then the professionalism you have for breeding. You are a great example of what all breeders should be striving for. Thank you so much for letting us experience your life, I've learnt an incredible amount from you. Cheers :)

Kill em with knowledge. You are educating the general public (at least those of us that want to be educated), unfortunately the breeders that need to see this don't care and just want to make massive dogs. I grew up with GSDs and what show breeders have done to them is criminal. Hopefully the good breeders like you that are trying to keep the original look/intention of the Cane Corso alive will win. We have enough gigantic nonfunctional dogs out there already, no need to make the Corso in to another one.

You are very much so correct. However, the working line GSDs have remained correct. Look at Czech Republic Working lines. Straight back, great hips and versatile temperaments. Its mainly the GSDs in America that got bred for the "roach back". Bred for looks, not work like intended. If you ever decide to get one again, look for imported parents or import yourself. Good luck!

Senza Tempo Cane Corso very true. These are the $800 Corso’s with all the health problems you see on FB forums. It takes awhile to find a good breeder and dog.... and they cost. This breed is gaining so much popularity that my fear is it will end up getting ruined. Preacher’s face melts my heart, and when he looks all dreamy eyed at Rachel...it kills me! 😍 Lets also not forget these dogs have “natural” instincts to protect, it doesn’t need to be “trained” into them. These are magnificent, balanced creatures, when bred properly. So many are breeding FREAKS! Americans have so little respect for tradition. It’s terrible and embarrassing. Go Rachel! Well, I know I have posted a lot. Sorry about that, I have learned so much just by listening to you. if through as I said my Nissa is part Chiwa- and if I had to guess some type of wired terror. Not sure, she just my therapy animal. My goal is to take her in public to help me feel better, my hope is that people will notice her first and then the fact I don't have half of my body. She is far from going back out in public, she did very well as a puppy. now her need to bark at strangers makes it hard. Anyways, listening to you, I have learned how to take charge, I have gotten her to come or go to the spot I want without being paid with treat. I do praise her with words and rubs. I am finding my voice, the first time, at first when told to come, she looked at me for a treat. when I got my voice (not yelling) but more confident and firm, I was so shocked to see the submission on her face and the obedience. I talked to a trainer when she was a puppy, he was way to expensive for a person living on SSI- 90.00 an hour and that included a discount. lol- He did spend a couple of hour on phone giving me advice which I and my workers followed, but in truth I think it really created a problem. His rule was she would eat NO FOOD not coming from our hands. We were to say Nissa come and then give her food from hand. It did save her once, when she got out too fast, I pretended to have food and said Nissa Come it made her stop and turn. But in the long run, we stopped this because I know he was to be the expert, but to me it seemed to make her feel the need for reward. Now she is 5 years old, we stopped that by time she was1, but as said in other post, until this week, I could get nothing without treats. With my medical routines, she seems to know and will wait patiently till I am done, she also seems to know when is an emergency. She also will go tell my worker, if either of my stoma bags broke, or she will walk on me till i wake up. I had a male partner when I got Nissa, he become Late Partner when she was about 2. So after hearing you say, you have to be Alpha, since is female run home, It made me realize I had not stepped up into the role of my late partner. thank you.

@@KimChi-iy7jd Thank you. Yes she has been a great help. After my operation in 2010 to remove ALL the lower half of my body, Plus a news story, which I am sure made some of the interactions, yet, I felt it was what MY God wanted -I survived with 4% chance, but anyways, I found it hard that people first notice this before they got to know the person behind the operation. At times I had panic attacks, this is when Nissa come to be. I had so many horrify past with dogs, so many times them cruelly taken from me. I had decided to never put myself through that again. Even though I was an adult and was no one around that I thought would do anything to hurt me, just my past made me not sure. My Late Partner Promised me, if she ever got sick, he would make sure she had care. So I went looking for a small dog, I wanted one that could ride between me and the back of my chair. Hind Sight, though I love her with all my heart, I wish we had looked at a shelter. I found a breeder, she told me this was the runt of the liter, that her mama was 3.lbs daddy 5lbs and all pure blooded Chichi. As time went by, I could see I was not getting what they said. At her 1st vet visit by us, they told us No, she was full chichi, offered test, which I could not afford and at this point, she was Mine, I don't give up on something because it is different, look at my own self, I am one of about 62 people to have this operation, I don't want judged, why would I do this to my Nissa. by third visit, she was already 10lbs, they let me know she is going to be big, my late partner, (IN front of the vet) said, it is ok we get you another one. I was like H*ll no.. Well now she is 5 years old, (fixed) and weighs about 15lbs. As I said in Oct 2015 my partner become my Late. I found Nissa on our Bed with real tears. I went to her because I was trying not to cry, yet here she was crying real tears. I have 24/7 care. so is always someone here, (thank God and Insurance, I could hire family or friends) once she got to know each (about a day at longest) she now adores them all, One issue is keeping everyone treating her the same. (had one who liked to sneak her table food. (I do at times reward her with table food, but this got to point she would not eat her dog food. She loves games, I got some of the treat toys.. So we made a game out of food time. I give her just a small amount, when she finishes that she comes to me and do again. after about 3 times, she has eaten the whole cup and she comes gets me, I then put a small treat or piece of cheese into the empty bowl. I would share link to my story, but Don't want to do that to Rachel, without her permission, but if you look for Angel Mechanicville, you can find the story about my rare operation. It is before Nissa, The plan was Nissa go out with me, due to health I could not go much so now she is not doing well even to go for a walk, me and one of my new girls are going to start it slow, like late night at the grocery. Some don't want to take her out due to her barking, my thought is she will never learn if we the humans don't allow her to try. When younger like the first 8 months, I had her to the point, we went to a resturant, I had stake, so did the table next to us, and she laid behind me never barking or begging. I taught her this because when she would look at my food at home, I would say, "none your business" and guide her back to her spot. She still don't beg or Bother even her own treats unless given to her. So I think if the barking can be stopped, she will do good again in public, which in turn will help me, as people will notice her first, get to talking to me and knowing me before they notice I am only 2ft3inch in a wheelchair. I joke , that I traded two legs, and half body for a 4 legged best friend. Thank you for your reply.

I don't want to sound negative against USA or generalise but why do so many American dog breeders seem so intent on changing breed standards to their wants? The German Shepherd that won Westminster last year was AWFUL. Just awful. It wouldn't have won anywhere in Europe. Not that some European breeders aren't also changing the breed but not nearly like USA dogs I've seen. Have you seen any of the Westminster Cane Corso breed winners this year? So many different looking dogs. Judges are bad how they allow breeders to change the standard of breeds. Why even have a standard??

Its fashion America has always been a trend setter land of the free to do what u want till some one stops y'all if they are brave enough,I believe in keeping the strains original I guess with some variation so I'm not total Arian nation, but its excess of deviation that will take away from the original animal/ plant its good traits or even naturalness. We were once peace loving chimpanzees swinging from trees till the b stardz blew us up into the divided creatures we have become warring with each other even for a cheap TV in a black Friday sale we have killed. Greed selfishness and lack of a caring spirit towards others seems to be around a lot more these days in the so-called free world but its good to c some people will still share their knowledge like Rachael and try and preserve rather than tear down and start again from the latest manifesto with top marks.

Absolutely love this ! ! I have Australian Stumpy Tail Cattle Dogs, which in recent history were down to one registered breeder in Australia - they started a recovery program in the 80s to save them - graded dogs, often from outback stations were used to build them up . There are only 11 here in New Zealand, I have three .I tried my hand at breeding but long story short out of the only possible mating I got just one surviving pup , I was absolutely gutted . I hoped could he could be a future stud dog but he turned out to be cryptorchid -major downer - no good for breeding . I love learning about the history of the breed . I really understand your dedication to original and correct type - keep up the amazing work !

I admit when I first saw your dogs I thought they were pitbulls. Thank you for tbe history on the cane corso. You are a great breeder and trainer.

Keep up the fight. As a lay person I always have been put off by this convergence in a large number of dog breeds to achieve the same look just different heights. I especially hate the toy bullys.

I was attempting to explain this to someone on FB the other day regarding LSGDs. They did NOT exist in MANY parts of the world. Hell, they only existed in mountainous regions of Asia and Eurasia. OTHER dogs were used in the VAST regions of the world. And where did you get that color graph! Damn I love it. Thanks so much!!

What happened to the line where the black and tans and blue and tans were showable/breedable colors? It was in the mid 90s for sure FIC or whatever? I feel like I'm getting gaslit. I was shopping dogs I ended up with a Fila Brasileiro instead of a Corso. I was talking to Corso breeders at the time.
