Nice job. I miss the hilltop. I moved out of Jersey in 2016 but the times I come back, I always end up visiting the hilltop at least once. This place always fascinated me, everything about it. Even though the buildings are no longer there, you can still feel a strange energy all around the grounds.

I grew up there. My mom, aunt, uncle, and grandfather all worked at Overbrook in the 70's. Thank you for such a great history! It's very well done, and taught me something I don't know, beyond the experiences of my family. A part of me misses the hilltop - I had some great times playing there. Back in the day, there were baseball fields and playgrounds for the patients. My sister and I loved the playgrounds. We got our first kitty, Buffy, from Overbrook. The place was overrun by stray cats. One abandoned kitten stole my mom's heart and she brought him home. We had him for 10 years. Yes, he was a 'he' - hilariously, neither mom nor dad could tell he was a boy when he came home. It was only later they realized their girl 'Buffy' was actually a male. By then, it was just a tiny bit too late...

Wow, Overbrook was a true family affair for you, that’s quite a story! 🐱The Essex Mountain Sanatorium was before my time but as kids growing up in the 2000s Overbrook captivated our wild imaginations to say the least. Happy to pay homage to the area here on KZitem and thank you for tuning in. I encourage you to revisit the area sometime, there are great walking paths now!

Great video! I spent a lot of time exploring the buildings in the 80’s and I miss it so much. I wish you could have seen it when everything was still standing, it was truly impressive. Thank you ❤️

My Mom used to work there until it closed in 1970. She was a charge Charge Nurse there. That's like an RN today. It was called Hilltop back then. When it closed, all who worked Hilltop then went into the Wards which was the insane asylum of Overbrook. I worked the Wards for a Summer after graduating High School in 1978 before going off to College. It was the best Summer job I ever had. The grounds, tunnels and buildings were so exciting to explore. Even after closing down in 2006. I sure do miss that place and wish I had 1 more opportunity to explore it's abandoned buildings.

Great video! Been there many times in the past, exploring and what not. Tho I do have to say, do you have any idea how many Paranormal groups have visited this site and did find spirits from the afterlife?! It wasn't a myth, nor folklore or fake. I also know an explorer who wrote a book about this place & has been in every nook & cranny, especially the tunnels, which were used mainly to transfer bodies. Tho I was always curious to know where some of these ppl were buried. You'd think that with all that land, they'd have a cemetery, just like some of the other sanitariums, etc...

This Hospital was NOT haunted. People see and believe what they want to believe, but I worked there and never had a paranormal experience. EVER!

Thanks TfromtheD - this was a high school media project, both this place and production of this documentary has had a profound effect on both me personally and my storytelling ability to date...with that said it was a large undertaking and to do more is worthy of a production company! Hope all is well with you ✌
