Theme song "Through the years" is sung by Roberta Flack and written by Stephen Geyer and Charles Fox. Fox & Flack, 13 years earlier, each won Grammys for their #1 hit "Killing Me Softly with His Song." Fox also wrote the themes to TV shows: Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, Wonder Woman, Love Boat, Paper Chase-- and the original Wide World of Sports & Monday Night Football themes.

Not that many episodes really addressed them dealing with the loss of their mother if any. I guess because they had their aunt there the writers didn’t feel it was that important of an issue unlike full House

The dirty little secret about the show was even when Harper was still on it Jason Bateman was clearly becoming the star of the show Which is why producers felt they could do the show without Harper.

I loved 'The Hogan Family', I enjoyed both Valerie Harper and Sandy Duncan in the lead roles. John Hillerman played Josh Taylor's dad, even though John is only 11 years older in real life than Josh and 14 years older than Sandy Duncan.

It's interesting. Though I've heard of this sitcom I have never watched it, but at the part that said, "Step, step, day by day," I sang out loud, somehow knowing the lyrics. Then again at "We got closer," & "Special kind of madness." Makes you wonder about the human brain and what's going on in there, and all the things that are locked in there that hasn't been accessed in over 20 years, yet lay in there.

It's showing now on Antenna TV! Check your local or cable tv providers for the channel. You will love the channel they show only old tv shows=GOOD FUN TV. Most shows from the '50's - '00's (more like 1999☺). I never leave the station!! Enjoy!!!

The real reason these shows were ignored was because it made everyone Happy and Peaceful and independent ... !!
