The Hohenzollernweg or Hohenzollernradweg leads from Esslingen am Neckar over the Schönbuch and the Swabian Alb to Ludwigshafen on Lake Constance. My two-day cycle tour in October 2017 starts with the journey on the train in Dornstetten and on the morning of the first day it goes from the train station in Esslingen once up the hill over the Neckar Valley in the vineyards. Since I can discover there no official starting point of the long-distance cycle path, the Hohenzollernweg leads me once again down into the Neckar valley, where I branch off at Plochingen in direction Schönbuch and leave the Neckartalradweg.
The Schönbuch is crossed on this sunny autumn day in the direction of Dettenhausen and Entringen and in the late afternoon I arrive in the historic old town of Rottenburg on the Neckar and realize that I have to Hechingen a few more miles than estimated.
In the evening at sunset, I drive the last 15km to Hechingen, where I move into the Brielhof below the Zollernburg my night camp.
