In the '70s I was a teenager who always had money because I had a job and a good work ethic. These days you can have the same character and ethics but no job. Now I'm 65 and decided to apply for Social Security and all that money I paid into the system no longer exists. America is Bankrupt and headed for an economic collapse of epic proportions.

I'm out of polite words now to describe this bullshit. It's worse that a wad like Trump has causd it all with tons of unsavory, witless help from bullshit, worthless Republicans. As far as I'm concerned, those people, Trumpers, are lost, lie-swallowing bullshitters. There will be no "bygones will be bygones". There will be no forgiveness from me. Support for a pile of crap like Trump is just too far. NO respect for any of them.

I remember listening to this on an old tiny am radio as a kid and it kept me frozen listening to it almost like in a trance. It was just captivating and still is. Something about the harmony’s and chords etc. there’s nothing nowadays that seem to touch it for me, save a couple songs here and there and they don’t really come close. It’s a real stunner.

Walshy I remember those little AM radios though they were the greatest things. Cause it fit right in our hands and pocket. This song does make me wonder off and like you said captivating. And there hasn't been anything like this song since the 70s. All the stupid shit out now days my son's listen to the music from the 60s 70s they are in their 30s I guess it's from me always listening to music from back then.

@@gramethyst2920 I know you might not mean anything. But it's really fucked up doing that SHIT. Correcting someone when they put the wrong word or misspelled a word. I had someone do it to me a couple of times. So I finally had enough of people out to make an ass out of someone. You see I told her why am not as great as all the perfect people who can spell use the right words. I was found not breathing when I was 4 days old. From the lack of oxygen I am a little bit slower in my brain than everyone else. But I still try to do my best so this is one reason why people who are perfect shouldn't show everyone how great yous are. The girl apologized but it was too late I was already feeling like I shouldn't be on here with all the perfect people. And when I went to school in the 60s they didn't know what to do with kids like me. So they never left me back a grade or two. I was pushed through school. I am sorry I don't mean to hurt you. But it does piss me off how people don't stop and think. Maybe that person has a learning disability. And my father fought the Japanese in the south Pacific. So he didn't know how to handle my problem. I was called stupid asshole my whole life. So please stop and take a minute before you say anything about someone else.

Sometimes I get nostalgic for a little Brit-pop, and for the last couple of days it's been The Hollies. The song structures, the voices and instruments are brilliant and outshine most of today's crappy music. The British had a gift of taking American pop-rock and making it infinitely better and blessing a whole generation of us with amazing memories of the soundtracks of our lives.

I know what you mean. I will be 71 in a few weeks. This song always makes me cry. When I was 23, my boyfriend, David was 25. He was drinking and driving, and was killed in a car wreck. He was a wonderful and romantic man. We danced and sang this song to each other. I can’t believe it has been so long, since he has been gone. Rest In Peace, David. You are truly loved and missed. ❤️🌹❤️

I remember this song was on the AM radio in my mom’s 1972 Ford Comet GT when she nearly rear ended the car ahead of us. I was in the front passenger seat. She put her arm in front of my chest to hold me back as a reflex. I was 8. What an amazing time to be a kid.

I don't understand why so many people in the US didn't know all of these songs. I grew up with all of them and I have never left the US. It was my Dad who introduced us to The Hollies, and we had all of their albums. Maybe he knew some unusual record outlets. And he was in the Air Force, maybe his friends who came back from Europe brought them, but we had ALL of The Hollies albums from their beginning.
