June 25th was the fifth and final day of the annual "Hub of the Wheel Trip" (the trip that all other trips revolve around, hence the name) that my dad and I take every June. We head out to Galesburg Railroad Days for the big model train show and back, and do plenty of railfanning along the way.
To close the trip off, Dad and I decided to follow the Mendota Sub, something we usually don't do on this trip due to the much lower train count. Despite not having nearly as many trains as its ATSF counterpart to Chicago, there were several moves, both freight and passenger, scattered throughout the day that kept us busy, and I got to explore territory that I had never been to. To close the trip off, we just by chance happened to run into IAIS CBBI making their way toward Blue Island in LaSalle, and chased it to Ottawa. A phenomenal way to end another Galesburg Trip!
Enjoy!
