Did you know that 12 years ago, on September 26th The Weeknd discovered Lana Del Rey through tumblr, and was the first one to ask BBC Radio 1 to put 'Video Games' on their playlist. In fact in an interview Abel admits that when he met Lana, he felt that he had found the girl who was writing in her songs, that is, I found her muse for her songs. The Weeknd and Lana met in 2010, the year in which the Weeknd launched "Trilogy", and it is seen that they became very good friends, so much so that the voice of a woman who sounds in "Lonely Star" is inspired by Lana del Rey and it should be clarified that Lana helped a producer the album, "BBTM".On the surface, The Weeknd and Del Rey might seem like very different artists. After all, The Weeknd’s music hip hop and soul sound feels more in line with someone like Ariana Grande. Meanwhile, Del Rey’s career lives much more in line with rock-infused pop. However, the two artists are much more similar than the genres of their music might reveal. For instance, The Weeknd and Del Rey both often capture a dream-like quality in their songs. In addition, their lyrical content dips into dark territory, such as their preoccupation with drug references. So it makes sense they would work well together. And so they have. Beginning with The Weeknd’s 2015 single “Prisoner,” they’ve worked together on five songs.Although the Grammy Awards have yet to bestow a trophy to Del Rey, her work certainly makes a huge impact on The Weeknd. In fact, the “Blinding Lights” singer once revealed just how vital she is to his own music. In a 2015 interview with Pitchfork, The Weeknd explained the interconnected nature of Del Rey’s music and his own. “Me and Lana have been friends for a long time. I’ve inspired her. She’s inspired me. I feel like we’ve always been talking to each other through our music. She is the girl in my music, and I am the guy in her music. It’s just this ghostly collaboration that feels the most natural on the whole [Beauty Behind the Madness] album. Even the whole monologue intro on “Lonely Star” from [my 2011 mixtape] Thursday - I just realized now that that’s Lana. That’s Lana’s voice. I mean, it’s my voice pitched up, but it’s her. It’s who she is. She was definitely the first feature that I wanted to bring on this album.” The Weeknd and Del Rey are more than just collaborators, it seems. The pair’s music - according to The Weeknd - is spiritually linked. Perhaps this revelation puts into context not only the collaborations between these two but their respective catalogs as well. As great collaborations he has Prisoner, Party Monster where Lana makes Background vocals, Stargirl Interlude, Lust for Life and Money Power and Glory an unreleased remix by The weeknd for the album kissland but the original is from Lana's album Ultraviolence.Anyway, long life to this wonderful collaboration. Abelana Forever 🥰🥰September 26 Abelana Anniversary. 12 years ago The Weeknd discovered Lana on Tumblr and they became friends ❤❤❤

I will say this as a long-time lana fan, lust for life felt like an ERA. It is so special from all of her albums in that sense. Her outfits, her tour designs, the futuristic retro aesthetic, goddamn even her tour makeup looks were so different in the L4L era 🤣 everything about this album is just so distinctly unique when you compare it to the rest of her discography. Its not the fanbase’s favourite, but its the most recognizable for sure. Lust for life is the gateway that introduces ‘modern Lana’ (aka Norman Fucking Rockwell and all the other albums that come after it). It marks the end of the BTD/ultraviolence/honeymoon era and the start of a new one.

FUN FACT: Beautiful People Beautiful Problem's original version was about Lana's suicidal thoughts amidst her chaotic rise to fame and an emotionally distant lover who failed to understand her.... But as she progressed in life she reworked that sad song into this uplifting ballad. If you listen to the original version which is also on KZitem, this final version makes you almost root for Lana that LANA YOU GOT THIS!!

About the fourth guy who said that she needs to make more songs like "Change" and "Heroin" and that you want her with more simple productions, I've got one thing to say. NFR!, Chemtrails and Blue Banisters are exactly that. Albums with relatively simple but beautiful production. Ocean Blvd is the same too. But the next three albums are gonna blow off your mind if that's what you seek.

It’s so fun to watch you listen from all y’all’s perspective. I do understand how the “political” songs you mentioned are not your thing and I just want to paint the scene for those. It was released in a 2017 and someone came into office not exactly in favor of women. I def won’t go into it because this isn’t the time or place. However just keep in mind it’s release year and also it’s an homage to the 70s that also saw war. 😅 ya know art stufff lol. Loved the video regardless cause everyone is entitled to their opinion. This albums point is the entire meaning of get free she’s moving out of that big production sound and doing it for her fans going more simple & meaningful. After this album is also when she switched producers because he was always trying to make her sound “bigger” and fit in with trends! The first half of the album she let him go crazy with production which then he over did it and she took over the second half of the album and really did her thing. The first half is way more popular with huge numbers of steams and the second half of the album had way less streams but going forward in the next coming albums she chose to do what was best for her knowing it wouldn’t be “as popular”

BEEN WAITING FOR THIS REACTION ❤ Mother Lana DELIVERED this album - idc what anyone says. You’ll love NFR. It’s a masterpiece (all her albums are). Fun fact but In My Feelings is about her ex, G-easy (more like sleazy) cheating on her with Halsey. So the hip hope vibe and the lyrics make for the best revenge song. A lot of people say Taylor Swift is the best at songs about her exes but the real ones know it’s Mother, Lana.
