hey folks, I am riding Husky 250 TBI and raced with it in Sea to sky. After 90 hours within 6 months, I can tell 12/48 sprocket combination is working like magic in technical sections also 13/48 is another option to consider. Stock suspension improved a lot with this generation, but after the race I decided to try wp 7500 cartridge kit and k-tech bladder kit. Now, bike is perfect for me. Enjoy it, Rich !

For those with a spongy felling Braktec front brake, try this. Take the front tire off and pump the brake until the brake pads are completely closed. Then spread the brake pads as far as they will go. Repeat two more times. Now put the front tire back on and you are good to go. I’ve done it on two bikes and it was night and day difference. Has something to do with aligning the seals in the caliper.

That is such a good call on cycling the pistons. I would just add, like I do on my brand new brakes on all mountain bike brands to grab a Qtip and use whatever fluids you have in the brakes and whip down the pistons and cycle them a few times so there is no stiction from the seals. Then clean everything with rubbing alcohol.

Keeping it real, Rich! To record with very few cuts demonstrates just how skilled and consistent a rider you are. I have 60 hours on the same bike riding steep PNW gnar. This is the best of 5 new 300’s I have owned. The new frame and fork make for confidence and precision that was lacking before. The TBI system solves the inconsistency that plagued the TPI bikes. Each injector now has a separate function allowing for more precise fuel metering. The injector relocated upstream of the reed block solves the serious cold seizure issue as it now allows the fuel to act as a solvent on the cold injected 2T oil. The improved luggability allows the skilled rider to more effectively manage the rear contact patch in steep slippery off camber situations. To really appreciate all the nuanced changes test the bike on wet mountain steeps. My Braketec brakes work great, they are new for the 2024 model year. 13/48 gearing makes 2nd and 3rd gear more useful on the mountain. As to complaints, the mapping is slightly rich right off idle, and the start/ stop and headlight switches are an embarrassment on a $12,000 dirt bike. Small potatoes, really.

To get a better front brake feel do a bed in procedure. It allows the pad to mate to the rotor and leaves a film of friction material on the rotor. It will give you a more consistent feel and more bite. It may also need a bleed but any pad and rotor should have this procedure performed for optimal performance. New set of pads. Redo the procedure

Hey everyone on a TBI Bike, you do not rev the bike while it’s warming up like a normal two-stroke the ECU already knows the engines temperature and tells the bike the exact mixture to make while it’s idling so when you twist that throttle you’re adding gas to an already rich mixture. TBI bikes do not foul plugs. you let it idle like a four stroke. I would use the choke if the engine is under 50°, so I would advise getting a thermometer cap.

I don't know why the Husqvarna is considered the premium brand. The orange ones get Brembo hydraulics and more power on some bikes (particularly the 4 strokes with more open airbox and exhaust). I know it sucks to spend money on a new bike but the TSP tune alone makes a huge difference even without installing their head or anything. I couldn't believe how much difference the tune made on my 300XC. I don't know why KTM doesn't make better maps for the off road models. The TE300 I could see, being road legal. Rich you may know already but for the first time in ages KTM made different cylinders with different port timing for TE models vs TX/TC models

Its a tragedy they don't put Brembo on the premier brand of KTM - I would have purchased a Husqvarna over the KTM if it wasn't for the Braketec factor; i do think the look of the Husqvarna is much cleaner than 24 KTM's with the awkward huge and pointy tank / radiator shrouds the KTMs have now. I have 20hrs on my 24 KTM xcw and it definitely has cold bike syndrome, takes several mins to clear the pipe out and warm up to run well & once you break in the suspension and get the clickers where u want plus get used to the new gearing (which i changed sprockets to 12/45 from the 13/45 - perfect might be 13/47 or 13/48) - it is a pretty nice riding technical bike from my perspective. Def will be curious to see what a proper rider like you thinks of the bike, suspension, engine, etc once you really get into it.
