When I saw that the Long Course Weekend was coming to Yorkshire then I was determined to check it out. I think it's a really interesting concept to have a full distance triathlon (140.6 miles) over three days. A 2.4 mile swim on the Friday, a 112 mile bike on the Saturday and a marathon on the Sunday! I entered the marathon and despite the awful weather (and a distinct lack of training on my part) I absolutely loved running this event! I was off to a good start when I was given number 1111 at registration!
It was fascinating chatting to people who took on all three days. The swim conditions sounded extremely difficult with many people not managing to complete the distance which had already been slightly reduced due to safety concerns. The bike route sounded extremely hilly and the marathon followed suit! The marathon route took us through the stunning UNESCO World Heritage site, and location of one of my all-time favourite parkruns, Fountains Abbey, at halfway.
The course was beyond challenging with it's extremely hilly elevation profile, and the weather proved to be a challenge too far for my camera (which isn't waterproof)! I'm not sure it will last much longer if I keep taking it out in conditions like these, or those at Edinburgh Marathon earlier in the year!

Huge congratulations to all athletes that competed on multi-days, especially those who completed all three disciplines. Super impressive!
