Thanks for the love of my guitars!! This one checks out completely under the black light. No breaks or repairs. I will post pics of the control area Monday to show factory wiring and the back of the pickups/pickup routing. Reason for the price fluctuation is simply because I was trying to sell a few things before the weekend to buy a collection but I sold a few other things so the price went back up. Also, the '79 Les Paul Standard is the first factory, two-piece, bookmatched, Flame Maple Standard made since the end of the 1960 production year.....hence the price.

I really like the vibe and potential for such a limited model. The finish "wear" to the top of the headstock carve seems - odd. The finish cracking at a high stress point is concerning. The wildly fluctuating and inflated asking price is a complete turn-off. This needs a black light review!

I think this guitar really highlights the “gambling “ element of being a collector. You might end up with a real diamond or it might be a Frankenstein’s monster that someone has cobbled together. I don’t collect, so this would be a hard pass for me, but I could understand why others might be tempted.

If you pause it at 6:16 where Austin is talking about his concerns with the neck and he pauses the spinning of the guitar, you can see a line running across the neck from the low side to the high side, it actually looks like two lines one just above the other. This could just be finish checking but it happens to run right there and with the questions about the neck and a possible head stock repair, maybe this is proof? It's a beautiful guitar for sure. Edit - after going back to the 5:57 mark where Austin first discusses a possible neck issue you can see there are actually three lines that do run from high to low sides but they look like finish cracking lines. But what I am seeing is it looks like underneath the nitro the white paint is gone and it's bare wood we are looking at and that is not normal wear.

The price changes are to pop up with "MASSIVE PRICE DROP!" notifications for everyone who's watching. Get a bunch of watchers at $7k (as an over-value) for a few days, drop it to $4k (what you hope to get) and see if you get offers/sales while you gain more watchers. If that doesn't work, raise the price to $6k for a day, then drop it to $3800 and see if anyone who gets the price drop notification bites. Keep doing that until it sells.

That Inlay chipping is always there on the older models, A few years ago, I passed on an 80’s LP special for 299.00 in a pawn shop near the NJ Shore. Unfortunately I am not skilled enough to understand IF looks legit or not… Pots are linear 300K, (70043) from CTS (R137) made on 04 1988 (8804) if I am not mistaken. Electronics is preassembled on a metal plate. Middle pick-up cavity was not an afterthought, At least two pickups has a nickeled metal black (with a lot of green oxide?) and the Pat no punched on them. I would be curious to see an update from you.

He’s not indecisive he’s playing with reverbs algorithm. If he’s constantly lowering his price it gets featured more so more people will see his store and he gets better exposure. It’s not rocket science. He’s a punk either way. He sets huge prices and then sets them to just above reasonable and that way it shows the price drop but if someone buys it at the “discounted” price he still ends up getting WAY more than it’s worth. He’s a con man

@@aaronwetzel1981 i hear this argument said about everywhere, that a seller can sell as they please as if the free market were an anarchist wild west. It shows a total misunderstanding of the free market. A seller can NOT charge at their whim. There are various concepts built into the free market model to keep this from ocurring. Those being "just price" or "fair price" among others. In fact, it's illegal to charge exorbitant prices and there's various names for it, "price gauging" or in this case "profiteering" is more apt.

I wonder if the custom shop logo would show up under black light. Even a faint hint of it being there. The fact that there is basically no wear on the back of the headstock at the point of the "Volute", so to speak, tells me it's been resprayed. Somebody that spent that much time at the end of the fretboard, would have worn some of the paint down on the point there. And clearly, it hasn't been worn. No sweat stains, looks pretty new to me compared to the rest of the guitar.

Well, I live near Savannah Ga, and I’m familiar with the “owner” of idlewild guitars. He’s a huge allman brothers fan/ southern rock fan in general. He claims a lot of his “innovatory” was previously owned or on consignment by well known/ famous musicians such as Crosby Stills and Nash, Gregg Allman, Derek Trucks, Susan Tedeschi, and BlackBerry Smoke. Problem is there’s not enough evidence to suggest he’s being 100% honest. His stories about famous customers and “famous” guitars he’s had in his possession tend to change sometimes drastically. I personally know people who have sold guitars to him. I had a friend that sold him a white early 90’s 67’ Flying V reissue back around December, a few weeks latter he post a 92’ V allegedly singed and owned by Bo Didlley on reverb for 9k. I don’t know for sure if the white V he’s selling is my buddy’s old guitar or not. I’m just saying given the man’s reputation it’s kinda suspect.
