OMG! Thank you so much for this video. Tried the test machine AT LEAST two dozen times plus in trying to get it initiated. Turns out there is about a nanosecond window between pressing the spin + soil buttons too quickly or too slowly. And it has to be just right. The manual says "immediately." This word needs a footnote to reference your video, because the frustration level was through the roof before I found your video. LG should clarify this because I would wager this issue to be one of the most irritating and calls to the factory/Lowe's/plumber for this model.

Get your WET/DRY shop vac out. empty any trash inside. REMOVE the paper filter so the water can be vacuumed up. use the flat floor attachment to the end of the vac hose and vac water. Then get a fan ( DO NOT PUT IN WATER ON FLOOR) run fan over the wet floor. Magic! Great video. Thanks

I have this model. I am generally a DIY'er, but I'm having difficulty figuring where my leak is specifically coming from. It only leaks when it's close to the final cycle and seems to come from the rear overflow. I noticed residue on top of the hot water valve, but I only use cold water after the wash cycle. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Btw, thanks for the helpful video.
@BruceAlanR
6 ай бұрын
Not sure what the rear overflow is, but I think you’re referring to the inlets where the supply lines are attached? If so, put a paper towel under them to see if that’s the issue. If it is, you may have over tightened the connection which can mess with the threads in which case wrap the inlets with plumbers tape and reattach the supply lines. While the hoses are off, check that the rubber washers in the end of the supply lines are still supple and use a silicon lubricant to keep them lubed. If the inlet is not the issue, remove the back panel of the machine and check that the drain hose clamp is fully seated and securing the drain hose to the drain pump. Also check that the drain hose and clamp between the tub and drain pump is properly seated. The connection between the drain pump and drain hose is usually the culprit because if the machine is unbalanced the connection takes a beating. I replaced the LG compression clamp with a radiator clamp because the hose kept coming detached during the spin cycle.

@BruceAlanR

You can select a cold or tap cold water temperature with pretty much any cycle although I’ve found using warm water hasn’t greatly faded my jeans or colors so I go with that (the dryer will fade your jeans faster than the washer). The cycle you choose will ultimately depend on how dirty the clothes are, but I like the SpeedWash cycle.

What does it mean when it says hose pinched or >96" during test. My drain for the washer hooks up to the drain under the kitchen sink. Also: Does the turbo wash filter the water it sprays back into the tub?
@BruceAlanR

The "OE" error means the drain hose is pinched, clogged, or the machine thinks the drain hose is connected to a drain pipe >96" high or lower than 29.5". Since your washer hooks into a drain under the kitchen sink, it's likely

I get only a trickle on my fill test. I have good water pressure and hoses not kinked or clogged. The inlet screens are also kept clean. We've had this problem since we got it. The missus has to fill it manually and set it to deep wash and then fill again on rinse. It's frustration. LG blames it on my well water pressure but I tested it and it's fine and plenty of flow coming through the hose. Any Ideas? If I knew how to rewire the damn thing back to 'old school', I'd do it in a heartbeat.
@BruceAlanR
7 ай бұрын
Ugh! That frustrating! Sounds like you’ve done all the necessary trouble shooting. In our house if the dishwasher is running, someone is taking a shower, or someone flushes a toilet, the water will trickle. The water pressure sensor switch (it’s connected to the back of the plastic outer tub if you remove the back panel) is what communicates to the inlet valves how long to remain open although I’ve never known one to clog. Could be a bad switch though. If there isn’t enough water in the tub after it fills, the switch tells the machine to add more water after a few minutes of washing. My recommendations would be to flush the hot and cold supply lines really well if you haven’t, and then make sure the hot and cold supply lines aren’t mixed up. You could test this by selecting a cycle and selecting Tap Cold as the water temperature. Until you figure out the issue, choose wash cycles that provide more water and allow you to select the Water Plus option (you can pause the machine and select Water Plus twice) and if TurboWash is selected (it’s the default for some cycles like Heavy Duty), unselect it to get a heftier rinse. I’m surprised the wash and rinse segments of Deep Wash require adding additional water since the cycle tends to use a lot, which makes me think it’s the switch or the inlet valves. If you want to compare your washer’s operation to mine, watch some of these cycle videos: LG WT7300CW Cycle Demonstrations kzitem.info/door/PL-WQ7-CdqbCHqWHNPJ8vDTZrvJ78T-HAg I also recommend watching this video on performance since some of the cycles and options on this high efficiency washer can be pretty stingy with water: How To Use LG Top Load Washing Machine WT7300 and others - Getting Started + Cycles kzitem.info/news/bejne/pGen3457j6V_Z4I
@BruceAlanR
7 ай бұрын
I just did a test using the Normal cycle (with default TurboWash) where I loaded the tub higher than I normally would (80% of tub). After the sensing segment the washer only had maybe a 1/4 tub of water (not nearly enough) and started churning. About 5 minutes later it paused, filled the tub halfway (plenty for the load) and continued on. My point being that the machine properly sensed the load size during the wash cycle, but didn’t during the sensing segment. Had I added more water manually, it likely would have thought I added more garments and then added too much water. That’s happened to me before.

Did running the test cycle solve anything? Regarding water temperatures, another KZitemr was kind enough to provide definitions of the water temperature options on this machine although I've added a few things based on what I've noticed. Unfortunately, I've never stuck a thermometer into the tub. Tap Cold: Is straight cold water from the tap. Cold: means enough hot water has been added to the incoming water so that powdered detergents can dissolve, but overall the tub of water will feel cold Semi-Warm: Lukewarm... still feels cold to me Warm: Regular warm water (still a mix of cold and hot water)... barely warm... more like Lukewarm to me. Hot: Water from the hot water intake, but not scalding

@BruceAlanR

Our water pressure is around the usual 70-80 PSI, so nothing special there. The copper pipe that delivers water to the machine is the usual 1/2”. Maybe check to make sure there are no kinks in the supply hoses. If they’re not kinked, turn off the water supply valves, remove the supply hoses from the back of the machine (have a bucket nearby as there will be some water in the hoses) and check the intake screens to see if they’re being blocked by debris or hard water buildup (clean them with a toothbrush). Then reconnect the supply hoses to the machine and be sure the water supply valves are cranked all the way open. If that doesn’t work, you may have some hard water buildup somewhere else or just really low water pressure.

Did you press the ⏯ button after pressing Spin & Soil during the chime? If that doesn't work, try unplugging the machine, waiting for a few minutes, plug it back in and try it again. The test isn't necessary, but if you can't even run a Normal Cycle (or any cycle), there's a bigger issue. Good luck!

What is wrong when the drum bangs around violently in the test cycle?
@BruceAlanR

Hmmm... my thoughts are that either the machine is not properly balanced (use a level and adjust the feet underneath) or there's a bigger issue (broken spring) which will require service.
@vanessagruenburg2000

It’s likely going to be a stabilizer or restraints issue. Your washer has 4 parts that are similar in look and function to the shocks of a car, located in each corner of the unit. Additionally, these stabilizers are sometimes held in place by a rubber bungee-type band attached to the frame, depending on the manufacturer. These, plus whatever weights your manufacturer uses, a top ring, front plates, both, all work together to keep the unit from walking out the door or beating itself to death during higher speed spin functions. So if your machine is wildly out of balance, one or more of these parts has failed. This is a time-heavy repair, only 2-3 tools required, and the parts are reasonable in cost.

Check the installation section of the manual. If there’s a test mode it would be noted there. The trick is to press the buttons as soon as the chime starts.

Try powering ofc the machine and turning it back on. If that doesn’t work, try unplugging the machine, waiting a minute, and plugging it back in. Sometimes if I press too many buttons on my machine the start button will become unresponsive.

THIS WASHER NEVER PUTS ENOUGH WATER! how do I increase it?!?
@BruceAlanR
3 жыл бұрын
I agree the Normal cycle doesn’t use enough water. My go to cycle is Heavy Duty with the TurboWash option selected. I don’t find that it requires additional water, but you can add extra water by selecting the WaterPlus option. WaterPlus is also available for the Deep Wash cycle although Deep Wash doesn’t have very turbulent wash motions. I also like Speed Wash with TurboWash, which uses plenty of water and TurboWash to get the load done in 28-30 minutes. Speed Wash is good for a small to medium sized load.

I tried the Tub Clean cycle and was really underwhelmed. It only fills and cleans halfway, so the other 1/2 of the tub is technically not getting cleaned at all and will undoubtedly grow mold. Since you can't manually add water, I don't really know what to do about this other than select a different cycle, but what cycle would that be? I want to fill it all the way with nothing inside so I can freely add chemicals like bleach, but I think they require you to add clothes.
@BruceAlanR

I agree about the fill level of the TubClean but keep in mind that when the tub shimmies during this cycle, the water moves up the side of the drum. If it were to fill the tub completely, it could potentially leak over the sides during the motions. Also the machine uses the jet sprayer, which rinses the top of the tub, and then spins everything dry. You can use bleach for TubClean and I used it until I started using Tide and Affresh washing machine cleaner... both are available at my local grocery store. The issue with using any cycle other than the TubClean cycle to clean the tub is that the machine’s load sensing may not allow for the tub to fill completely. You may want to try the downloadable Full Load cycle to see if it will fill the tub, but I doubt it... the machine may be too smart for its own good. 😃 To prevent mold, mildew, and odors in the tub, be sure to leave the lid up and detergent drawer pulled out when the machine is not in use. That way any remaining water can evaporate. I am diligent about TubClean and leaving the lid up when the machine is not in use and we haven’t had any mold, mildew, or odor issues. Hope that helps!

I’ve seen some other brands on tub clean cycle they fill partially do some cleaning and then continue to fill all the way I’m assuming the LG does not do this? Use the bulky cycle with water plus if it has it maybe that’ll fill up higher.

@@BruceAlanR Hmm I never saw the jet and I watched the whole cycle, I think that's the TurboWash feature. The shimmying helps it reach a little but it's not enough to penetrate the wall of the tub on the opposite side. If I can connect I will try that download cycle.
@BruceAlanR

I’ve been meaning to re-record the TubClean cycle and post. I recorded it at some point, but something went wrong with the camera or lighting. I recall seeing the sprayer during it, but I’ll be able to confirm soon. I have 7 more loads until I need to run TubClean and I’ll re-record it. The sprayer is definitely used during the rinse cycle when the TurboWash option is selected as you’ve pointed out.
@user-ov7lh6kz8u

@@BruceAlanR You can't select TurboWash during Tub Clean, it's a fixed cycle. I managed to connect and download the Full Wash cycle, but it basically acted like a normal wash and barely filled. I tried to trick the sensor into giving more water by adding 4 large wet towels for weight, but this didn't work either (probably not enough towels). The only cycle that fills it all the way is the Bedding cycle, but the cycle is too gentle. To run it full on normal I probably need to stuff this thing with towels, except I'm convinced the washer is just too smart... it will find a way to wash them with only 1/2 tub of water because the technology is just that stubborn, and I think it's for this reason that I'm not a fan of High Efficiency.

Good washer so far, can't connect to the Smart app tho.
@BruceAlanR
3 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that! This is how I connected to Wi-fi when I had an issue. Start by unplugging the machine, waiting 15 seconds, and then plug it back in. Make sure your phone is connected to your home’s WiFi network. In the LG ThinQ app, follow the instructions to create an account if you haven't done so and then login. Turn on the washer. In the app, press the + sign to add an appliance. Select Top Load Washer, Select ‘no’ for “Does your washer have a touch screen?”, press and hold the Delay Start/WiFi button on the machine for 3 seconds (the WiFi indicator will blink during the connection process). On your phone go under the WiFi settings and select the network named “LG_Smart_laundry” and follow the remaining prompt, which I believe is to enter your WiFi router’s password. Then the washer connects to your router. I show the process briefly at 12:04 in the video. Hope that helps!

Timing and equal pressure is everything. If you see 0, it just means you didn’t get all the buttons pressed as soon as the chime starts. I’m not sure why LG made it so difficult.

It’s a bit tricky because timing (as soon as the chime starts) and getting both buttons pressed at the same time (with the same pressure) is challenging. Good luck!
