Tom Taylor straight-up admitted that he couldn't actually think of a way to turn a normal Diana into Regime!Diana, so he treated her as basically a straight-up evil counterpart from very early on. The Diana in the Injustice Movie feels more like the post-Infinite Crisis version of the character and how she would actually react to the things that happen here. Still a _bit_ dodgy (She's waaaaay too down with murder) but she steps back from the edge whereas the version in the comics and games gleefully skipped over it on her way to try and boink Clark.
@SBaby

She wasn't really a psycho in the comics. She was the one that got Superman to take off the Yellow Lantern Ring (and subsequently destroyed it), and there were several other things she did that were the opposite of being a psycho. It's just that she was loyal to the Regime because her first experience with men ever was her being screwed over by one, validating everything the Amazons said about not trusting them in her eyes.

The issue is with her is that her initial portrayal at the Jokers side is typical, villainous Harley. While the joker is using her, he is only really enabler as she had always wanted to act out and in some senses, was much better at it then the Joker was. Then, she is immediately written like Modern Harley who has the more tragic "abused lover" angle of having always been the victim. It shows a lack of understanding of who she was in that era of writing. I can work with that in the comics as the retcon to her history happened so long ago that she's actually really different to when she was just a villain. Issue is, she doesn't really go through any arc in Injustice. She starts off as a mass murdering bitch *and then* is immediately her more heroic self the moment Joker is out of the picture, without pause or difficulty. Almost as if most writers are just used to her being a semi heroic, more sympathetic character that they can't compared writing her in any other way. Honestly, I think DC has real difficulty in keeping it's villainesses, villainous. It's really odd to see someone like Punchline, who is a horrible woman who uses this to manipulate public perception, a breath of fresh air compared to a lot of the "actually they are much softer inside". I don't dislike Harley, but I do dislike how she's universally used as a good woman, even in universes (Injustice) where it really doesn't make much sense.

Some people never get the moral of the stories about redemption. Or weight redemption arbitrarily in years of public service - and even then, look backwards on those that did atone for their sins. People are bitter and vain. To me, redemption is internal. If a genocidal maniac like Plutonian changed internally overnight - so be it. Redemption is not tipping the scales of the universe and undoing/trying to make up for everything bad one has done. It is about positive change. Something I feel the movie did way better than the comic is that they first take the time to make you care about the people in Metropolis before the explosion. In the comic, were only with the heroes. And as sad as it is, barely any time is spend on the residents of the city. But in the movie, they open with showing you all the people in the city being happy and going to work. And when Jokers trap springs, you see everyone looking at their approaching doom. Imo this makes the loss feel much more devastating.

This ending where Superman starts his path of redemption feels much more natural for the character. The main earth Superman likely wouldn't have descended as far as this Superman did, but I don't like how Injustice (game/comic) Superman just didn't hold back. Sure, he had time to steel himself and lose his humanity, but Clark is such a fundamentally good man that it's hard for me to believe that he wouldn't see the error of his ways eventually. The Animated Injustice's theme of forgiveness and redemption permeates through the justice league, and most prominently Diana who unlike her Comic/Game Counterpart, isn't an effective sociopath. This movie is where I stopped liking DC. It has been nice since I went to other universes but when you say it's it's own thing why not just make it it's own thing. Why diminish or tarnish a good story with something so mediocre. Injustice I feel elevated story telling in comics whereas this movie was just a cash grab for people who don't read or can't play games? Who is that really? I can't show this to my friends as a representation of something I enjoyed because it just wasn't that. This violation can't be overcome and we need a strong force to punish this wickedness from ever happening again.

My favorite parts were Plastic Man and the black knuckle tattoos everyone had.

Unpopular opinion: Deathstroke, Red Hood, Dr Fate and Azrael wouldve looked epic asf in this animation style.

also looks like the animation team only knows how to draw one set of arms - as everyone has the same set of arms at roughly the same size

The real Injustice was how this movie turned out, although I did like the ending. But Ra's was in the comics. He has this private zoo filled with extint animals that Blue Beetle blew up by being an idiot.

How is it possible that this movie not only was disappointing, but also both the worst video game adaptation and comic book movie of the year it came out? This movie was under one hour long. This storyline deserved at least a trilogy that could’ve made some of the changes it made and made it more satisfying. Wasted potential.

I recently read "Supreme Power," which I loved. It's another great take on the idea of the Justice League being shaped by much darker forces. It's a Squadron Supreme (Marvel's JL) story, and it's terrific. Gray and muddy morality all around. Hyperion doesn't go right from good to evil. It's more like good to it's complicated. Great script by JM Straczynski and gorgeous art by Frank, Sibal, and Sotomayor. Better than The Boys.

i dont hate that change, its not inherently bad, its just what they took away. The film is called injustice so you expect it to be injustice, but it cuts so many of the iconic moments from injustice

I mean, Injustice Supes kills Shazam. Its hard to argue he's not evil.

The second they decided to kill the Flash I took the film as it's own story that took influence from the comics. Which made me like it even more. The Injustice universe is pretty sad and I'm happy that this film ended on a more higher note. To say the least😅.

My favorite change is wonder woman. I know its been talked to death but shes just straight up evil and waited for an opportunity to turn clark evil in the comics/games. This movie makes her be like "ya its extreme but rooted in a good ideal" then talks sense into clark
