The old gods are just great old dragons, the elven gods are just powerfull old days elven mages from the time before the veil, that killed the titans and probably due to their blood got much more power and self proclaimed thenselves gods. The titans not god either more like powerfull earth elementals wih lirium of some kind. Power creatures but totally mortal. Basicaly The golden throne was the home of the real god of the setting. The oter thing is why Solas want to break the veil now, after all he created it to banish the oter elven "gods" after THEY KILLED Mytal/Flameth, that STILL ALIVE. I just hope in DA:4 they dont come with social just bullshit about slavery or oter stupidity and give us the story thats alredy setup. And maybe the last double blight =). Leliana aways gave men not human vibes... i dont think some lirium husk, but definetly some creature created by someone. Artificial human somehow. Maybe mixing lirim and spirits. The Cycle of Life is The Cycle of Violence. Solas is only doing what he has to do to set the world right! The only reason humans moved to Thedas in the first place was because of Solas God-Tier actions which made Thedas hospitable to them. But does that action make him a hero to them? No it does not. Because Solas didn’t do that for them or because of them. However Solas is tearing down the Veil that he created to help his own people and restore nature back to it’s natural balance that he interrupted and corrupted by creating The Veil in the first place! Removing The Veil, for the reasons he’s removing The Veil does however make Solas a real hero! And here I thought that this Zoomer Generation of ours was all about tearing down walls and building bridges. Even The Boomer Generations President Ronald Regan said, “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!” But you would have Solas maintain the status quo because some humans who conquered the lands of his people. Alone, these details wouldn't necessarily be enough to discard the whole video, but when combined with larger details such as the games setting, it tells me they haven't played the game and didn't bother to be thorough in their research. I just did a quick google search for the setting of the game, and the first result is the wikipedia article for the game. The quick snippet google shows talks about the game starting in Lothering in Ferelden, but doesn't mention Kirkwall. This leads me to believe that their research ammounted to googling, reading the search snippets, but not going any further. That alone discredits the whole video.

About Leliana, I think she may have been possessed by a spirit (or the spirit simply took her form) when she was nearly killed in the Leliana's Song DLC for Origins. She has a total personality change after that event, and hears a voice in her head. We know from Cole that a spirit can become obsessed with a human. Could the same thing not happen to Liliana? A spirit of compassion helped her survive and continue. When Leliana is recruited by the Hero of Ferelden, she eventually has to confront her past and stop living her new life as an innocent chantry sister. A new purpose, one that involves killing and fighting. Could the new purpose corrupt the spirit of compassion within her, like Anders corrupted Justice into Vengeance? If Leliana fights against the Hero of Ferelden when they try to poison the Urn of Sacred Ashes, could the same spirit be how she survived? If she was not fully dead the entire time but now was, perhaps the spirit within her took her full corporeal form and memories like the Spirit of Compassion took on Cole's form and memories when the human Cole died in the Spire. This explains how Leliana is able to appear again in Inquisition, as well as her mysterious disappearance at the end of the game. The Spirit could sense its purpose was gone, and moved on to another place. Just my two cents on Leliana, its been floating in my head for a while. It makes more sense to me than her being a lyrium monster, at least. Great video! It was better than I expected it to be, coming in with expectations from other low effort iceberg videos.

It implies that the Maker is actually one of Evanuris, that the Golden City is one of the marvels that depended on the Fade [which Solas mentions many of them were destroyed or ruined after he created the Veil] and that the Tevinter Magisters DID NOTHING WRONG THERE. They were actually correct when they say that the city was empty and seemed strange, they got there AFTER Solas created the Veil, sealed the Evanuris away and ruined the Golden City. The Modern Chantry condemns Men, Elves and Magic/Mages...The three Canticles they forbid are about Heroic Elves ensuring Andrastiantism victory over Tevinter, A Tevinter Male Mage being the Original Founder of the Faith, Men being enslaved to the will of the Maker and in turn the Maker being a Dark Deity who specifically arranged a brutal death of his beloved (obsession) to claim (steal) her for his own. I love the Dragon Age Series but man is it grim. Everyone needs a hug and a cup of warm tea from all the crap that happens to them. Some friends and I were talking about what game Universe we'd like to live in if we had to pick. I think I'd be too scared to live in the Dragon Age world. Thought: The Maker is Solas/Fen'Harel. No, he is not the creator of the whole world and everything, it is just that humans refer to him as such, a title of legend and myth much like The Dreadwolf. Andraste is Mythal, similarly another persona for the her, maybe before Flemeth came into the picture. And the Old Gods are the Evanuris. The Maker/Fen'Harel banished/tricked the Old Gods/Evanuris to slumber Underground/in the Fade. When that happened, the Golden City turned black (as shown in Dreadwolf trailer), accessible only from the material realm only through Blood Magic. When the Magisters, lured by the whispers of the Old Gods/Evanuris, breached the Black City, whatever corrupted the Fade and strengthened the Veil to its extreme there infected the physically present magisters into the first darkspawn. When the breach happened, the Old Gods/Evanuris immediately rushed to the physical realm as spirits, seeking out the most powerful bodies there, ancient high dragons, thus the city was empty when the magisters arrived. When the blood fueling the breach ran out and the magisters came back to the material realm, they continued looking for their gods, following their whispers. As for the Broodmother origin question, I just figured that at least one or more of the Magisters were female, not all of them male. Ooooor all of this is a Geth social experiment on primitives they stuck in a virtual reality controlled environment. Everyone needs a hobby, even the Geth.

Wonderful video, but one minor quibble: you state at one point that the majority of DAO and DA2 take place in Ferelden. No. DAO does but the majority of DA2 occurs in Kirkwall, which is the Free Marches. Only at the very, very beginning when the Hawkes are fleeing Lothering, are they in Ferelden.

The Golden city is Arlathan. The Elven city. Its black because the blight is almost certainly an Elven weapon/magic of the Evanuris that got sundered along with everything else when Solas broke the world when he created the Veil. My speculation theory below. •The chant of light and humans "maker" is remarkably aligned with Solas forming the Veil itself to allow humans to survive. It is ironically possible that the humans entire religion is based off the magical events and destruction and subsequent creations that occured when Solas locked the entire fade away making an Elf the humans Maker that they attributed to a God "maker" because they had no other way to explain the events caused by Solas.

Justice being in Anders was such an interesting concept to tackle (and was cool to see them carry on from Origins, although Anders' character was tweaked quite a bit), I was hoping we would one day find some strange way to sever their connection. DA2 didn't because of how short and contrived it was. DAI could have had a mini mission like that... though, with how they technically wrote Hawke out of the story in the dumbest death for a hero possible, not sure that's ever going to happen. Sad. Justice was a great character.

So, it was my assumption that with Kieran, Morrigan’s son, in possession of the soul Urthemeil and Mythal/Flemmeth attempting to reclaim it in DA:I, that all but confirms the theory that the Old Gods are the Evanuris. We know Felmmeth taught Morrigan the original ritual that transferred the soul of Urthemiel back in DAO, I believe Morrigan’s original justification for going along with this ritual was “preserving something old and ancient worth preserving”. It seems odd that both Morrigan and Flemmeth would be interested in preserving the soul of an Old God that was only an Old God of Ancient Tevinter. Sure, Morrigan may not have known, but Flemmeth obviously did.

Good video overall, however, I have to voice some opinions on the "a magister is leading the wardens" theory. Im unsure if I can buy this one. Dont get me wrong, the idea sounds cool, but there are some REALLY weird flaws in the logic for it. 1. we know the wardens were formed during the first blight. What the video forgets to mention is, THIS BLIGHT WAS ALMOST 200 YEARS LONG. This wasent a "oh, thats not good, lets make a marry band of men" and over within in 5 years. Why, if for any reason, would an ancient entity vying for power with the knowledge to make this group of super soldiers let the conflict drag that far out. 2. In the fade, during the quest pertaining to the dreamers, we (kinda sorta) interact with what can be assumed to be a founding member of the order, or at least someone who was there during the beginning stages, given their entrees talk about finding the way to BECOME wardens. Aka, the blood rituals. And the way its written, it seems this was a long ongoing search. Again, if this has been planned and orcastraited from the start, would we be interacting with a long dead soul seemingly in agony over the decades it took to find a way to even begin a counter attack. 3. I hate to sound mean, but are we really saying that an ancient magister, powered by blight (at least if the other 2 are similar to them) has somehow been able to perfectly stay hiding as the top commander of the one group in the entire world of thedas that is most suited to catch on to his shenanigans, given they can SENSE DARKSPAWN AT ALL TIMES. No, im sorry, but if this was true, it would basically be saying that from the very beginning the entire order of graywardens has been a complete and utter band of the worlds largest messups unable to even do the one job they have. I cannot buy it. 4. This would also throw a vast majority of what we know/assume about Flemith/Mythal out of wack. She actively helps the wardens in origins. If we are going to assume that Flemith is probably not on the best of terms with the ancient tivinter magisters, given she has the soul of an elven god and ya know, elves and vints, it would make NO sense for her to just willynilly assist the wardens in killing what, in this theory, is a form of magical lock put in this world made by HER BEST FRIEND. We could point at the old god baby, but given its a completely optional aspect of the game, I feel like it would be pretty bad if an elven god just said "eh, whatever happens happens" to one of the only ways of sealing away whatever it is that the oldgods are acting as a lock for. It would, much like the wardens, make her character look vastly incompetent and only serve to make this mysterious all knowing old soul look like a bumbling buffoon. The idea of it being some mastermind complex sounds cool till put to scrutiny. It would completely kill any and all credibility for one of the series biggest and most influential in world groups. Not to mention, it would retroactively make all of origins be "lmao guess you really were the bad guy, good job screwup". I cannot hope this is a real plot point in any way.

What are you talking about? The Magister Sidereal did not want to kill or overpower the Old Gods. They wanted to overthrow the Maker and claim His throne (and power) in the Golden City as followers/disciples of the Old Gods (according to the Chantry). They were being manipulated by the Old Gods to believe they could claim the power of the Maker and the Golden City. While the Maker part might just be Chantry lore, the Magisters were never trying to overthrow or kill the Old Gods. They were called by the Old Gods and told how they could infiltrate the Golden City. A goal that the Magisters thought would bring them ultimate power. They didn't seek to overthrow the gods, they sought to gain their powers by following their whispers and instructions on how to enter the city. Also, we know where the Grey Wardens went. They went back to Weissaupt and became influenced and controlled by Corypheus. Have you not played Dragon Age: Inquisition?

A simple note when it comes to the origins of Humans: Humans and Elves can have children together, and as far as we know these children are fertile. Fun note, the child will ALWAYS be human, making humanity a dominant trait to elven. Using real life anatomy, that means they have a very close common ancestor (a donkey and horse are close enough to produce a mule but that mule can’t produce itself). In other words, there’s no way that humans just show up one day, they have to be related to Elves in some capacity Of course there’s always the chance that the devs didn’t even consider common ancestry when writing the backstory for Alistair, but that’s no fun

@ 48:30 - The Voshi are possibly struggling to deal with the large monsters of the deep sea created by Ghilan'nain the mother of halla but... also monsters. There are some codexs mentioning she made quite a number of deep sea and land monsters but at one point was advised to destroy most of her creations. For some reason the Dead Wolf convinced her to not destroy the ones of the sea. Why? Possibly so they could continue to protect the elven lands from invasion from other civilizations on other contents. We actually can see them in one of the Dread Wolf trailers, huge monsters rising out of the sea between metallic warden boots. You're talk of Fen'Harel in Tier 4 only convinces me more that Solas is indeed the Chantry's idea of the Maker.

I came to Dragon Age originally for just a fun twist on standard fantasy and wound up with a setting as grim as Warhammer yet twice as fun. For me the moment that really defined Dragon Age was finding the broodmother in Origins, having that buildup, finding the dwarf, discovering the horrors of the darkspawn, and that incredible initial "WHAT THE HELL?!" reaction followed immediately by just purging the entire area with fire and blades. There's just something about the setting I've never seen replicated elsewhere in the way it can swing from genuine touching moments to ASTONISHING horror to a great boss fight.

Reason why people dislike the Elves being the be all to everything is it takes away from the world it's lore and all the other inhabitants. There's a huge fixation on the elves by the community and it's basically " A wizard did it" The Qunari and Dwavres have a deep history imagine if everything that was important and vital that makes these races unique was setup or effected by once again the Elves Why the Blight? The Elves. Where did the Qunari come from? The Elves. You could basically keep doing this and it doesn't add anything it makes the only relevant race in Dragon Age the Elves I don't know why fans find the Elves being so encompassing fun. Scenario the Elves cut off the Dwarves connection to the Fade by killing a Titan The Dwarves being the Borg is already an issue and Solas calling Varric "Child of the Stone" already takes a gross turn with that context Dragon age was about complex political conflicts characters and differing people coming together in strife to combat a threat But now its just the lore what did the Elves do how did they use the bathroom did Solas wipe up or down whats to Elves favorite Color I'm being hyperbolic but honestly not by much which is the problem

Spot its. Its probably because the devs and fans are woke and the Elves hit the opressed minority checkmark. In real life these people make up constructed theories on how the groups which used to be opressed in the west actually somehow made the west or lots of western stuff. Its a relativley repeating phenomenon in human relations. And I think we see this mentality seep into the games now.

This in generally vaguely accurate and about mysteries discussed a lot in the fandom, but there's a few things that sound very odd like the "mixing elven and dragon blood can create elven gods like Flemeth" which sounds like the Evanuris were just elves that one day injected themselves with dragon blood and then reached godhood and it could even turn out to be true, but I don't really get where this is taken from. Maybe it's just the way some sentences in the video are said and actually you meant something else, but there are many "little" details that seem mixed up scattered in the video, like saying that Dragon Age II is set primary in Ferelden.

Been a while since I played through the series, but I was under the impression that the "old gods" and the Elvhen Pantheon where one in the same. That is the 7 old gods are what became of the members of the pantheon after The Solas did the whole creating the veil thing. After all there are 9 members of each group... kinda. That is 7 Old gods + Mythal aka Flemeth + The Dread Wolf aka Solas = 9 gods. Also Flemeth is kind of a dragon, like the other old gods. And we know she had a vested interest in saving the old gods souls, and directed Morrigan on how to save Uthemeal (or w/e). Also Also The Tevinter mages worshipped the old gods, and were trying to get to the center of the fade. What exactly happened isn't clear only that whatever was backfired horribly and corrupted them and led to the Darkspawn. Perhaps, they were acting at the behest of the old gods in an attempt undo the separation between physical world and the Fade that had been created by Silas, in order for the Old gods to regain their previous elvhen divinity. Also Also Also tearing down the veil is kinda what corypheus is trying to do in inquisition. Also x4 we know the old gods taught the Tevinter magic, which comes from the fade, which the old elvhen gods were master of both. Finally Also, David Gaider the lead writer on the series, kinda hinted this might be the case. Side note, where is it stated that the Elvhen Gods were constantly at war w/ one another, I haven't read every line of text in every game or side content but I don't remember anything indicating as such. From what I do remember from the games they were always presented to be mostly unified, except Solas who didn't like them "pretending" to be gods doing that whole betrayal thing. I mean it's framed as a betrayal, which is something you can only do to friends or allies, not to people who are already your enemies.

The, shall we say, script @ 4:15 looks like someone took Ogham and replaced the linear shapes that go across the stem lines (as we read them) with circles and semicircles. (Ogham is a very early written form of Irish that was used from roughly the 3rd through the 9th ceneturies.) Ogham was originally meant to be written in three dimensional space. The stem lines (the very long line) you see with transcriptions of the script today represent what would be the edges of a cuboid. Think 3D rectangle, these were stele, i.e. standing stones, something not that different from a modern headstone, but with the words running along the edges rather than on one of the faces. At least, the oldest examples of the script all come from those monuments. Later it was used for other purposes. But those later uses represent something interesting as the later (post 6th century) use seems to be separated from the tradition the monuments belong to. Not an extension or continuation of them.

The story of Andraste and Maferath is close to my heart because I conflated it with an RP character of mine (a storyline that is now different to DA canon as I was working on pre-Inquisition lore, and can handwave as my RP character is an alternate timeline where an outsider took over the role of Andraste and the soul intended to be Andraste if she was not there... was right there, as her younger sister).

Ah I hope the game will be playable. Solas had such a good setup considering he´s had usually so many long hours on the DA:I roaster before that reveal. My guess is that he will half-succeed middle through the game with the option of having him destroyed or back as a party member then there´ll be an even greater evil like the elven Gods or the Maker in the endgame. I guess the ending will be cataclysmic like in Mass Effect 3 changing the entire fate of the world and the races.

Yeah, there are too many minor inaccuracies in this for me to believe any of it. But you got me wanting to go play, so thanks for that.

It isn't exactly rumoured to be in Tevinter, it's already been shown. At the end of the Trespasser DLC in DA: Inquisition, the Inquisitior is shown talking to their comrades about where they'll go next, and they lodge a knife at Tevinter on a map to mark it.

35:30 slight correction, Mafarath was Andraste's husband that betrayed her. Archon Hessarian was the one that took pity on Andraste as she was burning and mercy killed her with the sword and converted to her religion after.

The lore in Dragon Age is full and dark but I fear that we will never see any of it due to how much bioware has changed in recent years....more keen on bickering on twitter than filling the games with stories and lore like in Origins (from what I have seen anyway). I would love to delve further into the history of the dwarves, especially after the Descent DLC and the Sha'Brytol, the Titans...and why some dwarves seem to be receptive to magic such as Sandal (you find a note from him in the Trespasser DLC when traversing the Eluvians...and also Valta who seemed to be able to use some kind of magic at the end...it was reminiscent of Fenris colour when he activates his markings etc...I am fed up of elves being the focus eg Solas, Dalish etc....lets have Dwarven history and lore, Qunari even! I love the theory that Qunari are in some ways related to dragons with the stories Bull tells...hence his specialisation set. I also love the theory that Mass Effect and Dragon Age are in the same universe with one of the moons on one of the ME1 planets being seen from...the hissing wastes I think it is! I also always wondered who belonged to the very large human style skeletons when you are in the Jaws of Hakkon DLC. Thankyou for this video and I still have a teeny sliver of hope that we may see some of this in the next game....Oh I do hope so

My speculation on humanity’s origin is that they’re also spirits from Fade, since they have magic potential. We know that dwarves do not possess such abilities since they’re the creation of titans, original inhabitants of Thedas, and elves do possess magic abilities since they came directly from Fade. Therefore humans must be too some kind of spirits that descended on Earth some time later than elves.

I realize these are fan theories and what not, but so many of them are actually disproven by actually playing the games lol. For example, the Grey Wardens. We find out what happened to them, and they weren't waiting for another Blight. You can't actually beat Inquisition without finding out about where the Grey Wardens went.

So Andraste was conned by one of the trapped elven archmages, likely Elgar'nan, trying to escape from the Dreadwolf's prison, by calling himself "the Maker" and tricking Andraste into spread his religion to increase his power.

This has probably already been said, but Hessarian was the Tevinter leader who killed Andraste. Maferath was her husband. I just wish we could get access to the entire Canticle of Maferath that the Warden found in DA Origins. And the Canticle of Shartan.

Holy! In most parts this is just mirroring TES Lore, love both franchises, but I just started reading bits and pieces about DA Lore, since I played them all ages ago but the English language was a barrier for me until recent years, even after that I got busy going deeper and deeper on Elder Scrolls. I also noticed something very weird, the Elves goal in DA is somewhat similar to Thalmor's goal they wanted to achieve, here's my question, could Solas be a Thalmor Agent? IDK how both TES 6 and Dragon Age 4 going to play similar plots, and how people will react to that. You know what I mean? Destroying the Veil, Deactivate the towers to "REACH HEAVEN BY VIOLENCE"? I mean that'd be a fun topic for a video. If you need any help in terms of sources, for TES tower stuff, I'll gladly offer to you all of what I collected over the years from Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, the Two novels etc...

Ya it’s interesting how much each have crossover for sure, I wonder if a lot of it is just derivative of dungeons and dragons though that would be my guess but don’t know the lore there, and thanks so much for watching always like to hear more lore to potentially dive into in the future

To be honest I really hope they don’t make the Old Gods connected to the Elven gods. It feels like it would be shrinking the world and making even more things just “Oh yeah the old Elves did it.”
