I’d say kronosaurus since it was more bulky and had a much more powerful bite force.

it would depend how social they where, if kronosaurs came together to breed & raised young they might have been similar to hump backs & sometimes had quite a few in a area at one time. probably be a bit like dolphins & sharks 1 injured dolphin is prey a group of healthy ones is a lynching party

That’s a tough one to estimate. A lot of unknowns could factor in and change who would be the superior apex predator. For instance, some mosasaurs have been found to be susceptible to the bends due to not being fully transitioned into life in the sea. That would give chronosaurus an advantage since it would be easily able to dive down deep and even make an attack from below. My money is still on mosasaurus but it’s anyone’s guess with the rather sparse information we can gather from these fragmented fossils. Plus we only get a tiny fraction of all the specimens that lived (due to the rarity of fossilization), and even fewer of these fossils that we have actually found and made available to science. Pack hunting would also easily tip the scales!

Funny, I was just thinking the same thing, who knows, Mosasaurus seemed a bit more flexible but that may be just my prejudices. As in war the first to attack from an unseen position probably had the advantage. The main problem I see is we're only going by what the fossil evidence says, who's to say one of the largest Mosasaurs was fossilized while one of the smaller Kronosaurs was done the same, we really have no idea but a loose one on how big either could get or what the simple average was.

Yes, we can only suppose the possible battle's outcome. More detailed research is needed to get a better idea about the prehistoric life on Earth. @@Titus-as-the-Roman

If the behavior shown in both seasons of Prehistoric Planet is accurate, male mosasaurs in particular were very aggressive and frequently fought against each other, that would make them very tough experienced fighters against equally huge powerful opponents. That combined with their ability to charge at extraordinary speeds at potential enemies and prey by curving their bodies on the sea floor and using their tails to spring them towards their target with incredible velocity (so fast that they could kill their prey instantly just by the force of contact) makes me predict the mosasaur would win the fight.

Thanks for watching! You have actually pointed to a great ability of Mosasaurus which is being tough and hitting prey with great velocity, but we should not forget that the Kronosaurus was faster and had a powerful bite.

Kronosaurus must have been an amazing animal. Seeing it would be terrifying. This video did a good explanation of the fossils. I haven’t got a clue which reptile would win. If I have to guess I’d say the Mosasaur.

Thanks for watching and sharing your opinion on this battle. Yeah, according to my research, there is a high probability that the Mosasaurus would win the fight, though the Kronosaurus was a speedy guy.

3:43 Absolutely wrong. They propelled themselves by flapping their flippers, like turtles, penguins and sea lions, although the exact range of motion of the flippers and how the fore- and hindlimbs synchronized (or not) is a matter of dispute. The ones who undulated their bodies laterally were basal Ichthyosaurs and mosasaurs (the more derived members of these groups relied more on the lateral undulation of only their tails, to didferent degrees).
