Place the motorcycle lift in a clean, dry, flat area with plenty of space around it to work. Secure the motorcycle to the elevator with the straps and lift it slowly until the wheels are at least six inches off the ground. Follow the instructions in your workshop manual to remove the axles one by one and then remove the wheels. Place the wheel on a clean, flat surface. Remove and discard the retainer or dust cover and clean the center area with a cloth. Remove the clip or retainer ring if you have one. Carefully remove the old bearing and the spacer using the extractor according to the instructions included with the tool. Repeat the process for each bearing. Once they are removed clean the inside of the bucket where they are housed with contact or brake cleaner to remove any traces of grease or rust. Check again that the new bearing is the correct size and is in place. Place it using the tool for it (follow the instructions included) with the tip of the corresponding measurement. Replace the spacer and then install the bearing on the other side of the wheel. Replace the retaining rings if you are wearing. Install new seals or dust seals. Place the axles and wheels again. Tighten the axle nuts by giving them the torque indicated in the workshop manual. Reattach the cotter pins on the ends of the shaft. Tips Heat the wheel hub with a blow dryer or a hot air gun to make the aluminum expand and you can remove and replace the bearings more easily. It is recommended to use armored bearings since they do not require grease and require less maintenance than the common ones. If you can not get the tool to install bearings, you can use a hardwood spigot or a large-mouth pipe supporting it evenly around the outer race of the bearing. You can facilitate the installation of new bearings if you apply a light coat of grease on the outer race of the bearing and another inside the wheel hub. The detailed workshop manuals are available for all makes and models of motorcycles and should always be consulted when you need to make repairs. Warning Never hit or apply pressure to the inner race of the bearing. This can damage or weaken it, causing its useful life to be reduced and prematurely to fail. Always follow the instructions and apply the adjustment torques according to what is established in the workshop manual. Never re-use old seals or keys. The bearings should always be replaced in pairs.
