Honestly, Robert, you find the most unique places! Never heard of the Grotto! As a devout Catholic I just love your explorations of Christian sites across the country. We wasted no time making a trip to Groom, Texas to see the Cross after I watched your blog. Thank you so much!

Amazing! I just left Miller Riverview Park a couple of days ago. If you have a chance to visit one of the Lock and Dams on the river, like the one you could see from the campground, check out when a large barge and tug go through the locks. It is very interesting the undertaking of splitting up a load to get it to fit in the lock.

Those Mississippi overlooks are beautiful--I definitely need to head out there next year to take in some of that great scenery. I'd probably drive an hour to see the Jolly Green Giant too...after all, that's what you do on road trips, right? It looks like you put in a lot of miles driving to all the places in this particular episode...I'm curious, do you know what the total was? Until next week, happy trails!

16:45 "The Stations of the Cross1 or Via Crucis2 3 (in Latin: "way of the cross") is one of the most widespread devotions or prayer practices among Catholics.4 It is held on Good Friday and Fridays of Lent and refers to the different moments lived by Jesus of Nazareth from his arrest to his crucifixion, burial and subsequent resurrection. The expression is also commonly used to express all kinds of difficulties that arise in life when you want to achieve certain goals. Also known as "Stations of the Cross" and "Via Dolorosa", it is an act of piety, a path of prayer, based on meditation on the passion and death of Jesus Christ, on his way to Calvary. The path is represented with a series of fourteen images of the Passion, called stations, corresponding to particular incidents that, according to Catholic tradition, Jesus suffered for the salvation of humanity based on the Gospel accounts and tradition. Also called via crucis is the route of crosses that indicate a path or a route where this pious exercise can be carried out."

For biblical accuracy: Prayers are to The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. No place in the bible are we given direction or permission to pray to anyone else. No place does the Bible tell us that Mary has any authority and performs miracles. This part of the faith is a manmade invention. In fact, by circumventing Jesus, it is a slap in His face for only He made the sacrifice for our sins. Mary said "I am in need of a Savior." Only God performs miracles. Anything else is not from God. Biblically speaking of course.

Furthermore, the Bible explicitly forbids creating engraved images of anything up in heaven, on Earth or the sea below for the purpose of worship of any kind. It is part of the 10 commandments.
