I would love to hear more about your stories, where you came from, what you did before, etc. The audio has never bothered me. All of my video's are done by my phone. The intentions of my videos was to teach others about what I do in a challenging place and that they can also do the same. I do not spend the massive amounts of time on editing, probably my biggest drawback, but it is what it is. I'm far too busy in every day to worry with the hours of editing. I believe your video's are fantastic, the place is captivating, and what you're both trying to achieve is mesmerizing.

Please don't give up filming even though it may not be the quality you'd prefer. @@janetmackinnon3411 This morning at 9:48 it was 100 degrees F. Yesterday it reached 107. We've had temps above 100 degrees since the week after our last rainfall, June 10. Yes. No rain at all! We are homesteaders so the chickens, ducks, cat, and birds need feeding first thing in the morning. That out of the way, we tend to our fall/winter garden and work until we're nearly heat exhausted, around 11am. We've had a real problem with dehydration this summer because regardless the weather, we have outside chores to tend to so work we must. We live opposite as folks in the north do in winter. We work in the morning and evening and hibernate in the air-conditioned afternoon. Our electric bill is nearly as high as our water bill. Even if we weren't in our early 70's the temps make outside work grueling and we commiserate with the construction workers we pass on the rare times we are away from our homestead.

I will add my comment to all of the others - don't stress on the audio there are many far more important tasks to do. You will get there! I am in Sydney, Australia and we have just had a beautiful spring day topping out at 23C! Best of luck with the wood supply as you will need it soon! The way you feel temperature differs due to humidity mainly, down by the water your humidity will be quite high whereas here in Sydney it is quite low. Our long term forecast for this summer is for high temperatures, which will mean mid 30s and upwards. The last hot summer we had was in 2019 with the massive bushfires and we were regularly going into the 40s, which combined with the air pollution from the fires was horrible.

The oak burls are used for wood turning, making bowls etc. Some people will also make veneers from them which can be absolutely stunning. A single burl could pay for your wireless mic and possibly a new camera system. It looks like you have a lot of money in those old fallen and dead trees so it may be time to research Wood turning, matched pairs, veneers and quarter sawn timber and take stock of what you have? When you are looking for a mic take a look at the Rode Wireless PRO and the DJI wireless mics.

Wouldn't worry about your audio, we have volume controls that take care of a lot of it. That said it's going to get a lot windier in winter where you are so you may not be able to do that much outdoor recording, or, just dump background music over external shots on days when it's too windy. Have to say your idea of a hot day and mine are not closely related. I live in the states now although I am a Highlander by birth so I no longer have to suffer those long winters. Make sure yer well prepared for winter. I lived in the Highlands a long time ago and it can get really cold and stay that way for protracted periods of time. If you have a good stock of canned and frozen foods, plenty of fuel if you use a generator, and loads of firewood you'll be fine. Be careful moving around on rough ground in winter as if you have a bad fall you are not in the easiest place to get treatment. You might want to consider a stronger stick as well, the one you have looks a little flimsy to me. There's a reason why they carried hiking staffs in olden days.
