Fun! I remember when this came out. Back then it would have been a miracle to see something like your video. I enjoy watching them since I love the artists and learning bits about their songs. They don't get the same attention as other styles of playing so your channel is a great resource.

Just another fantastic lesson!!! I've learned so much from you over the years. On behalf of all of us, I want to thank you for the time spent sharing your knowledge and taking the time to produce these for us fanatics. The bulbs keep going off in my head when I'm trying to figure out the song and then see your presentation..." oh yeah..thats it!" I normally don't make requests, but if you ever find the time, we would love to see your set up with the two amps and the settings you use. I know you've provided me with a ton of info over the years about this, but I think a lot of us are just trying to get the sound. Thanks again, a million times over!

Thanks for response! I saw Marr in 2013 in NY and Andy jumped up for a few Smith songs! Also saw Matt Pinfield in balcony enjoying the show! Weller on bucket list now! The Jam actually played the University of Bridgeport(Ct) in early 80's but I was not hitting a lot of shows as a 14 year old kid.Did see Bow Wow Wow and Billy Idol there though.

Nice gigs from way back. To have seen the Jam in Bridgeport... I once ran into a guy at my provincial university who saw The Jam play in Montreal back in '82.

I'm using a Boss ME 50 multieffects pedal with 4-5 effects at once to get the sound. The toasters are original '66 issue.

what amp and things do you use to that Weller sound?
@modfather1965
8 жыл бұрын
+Webby65 Webby65 The 'amp and things...": two amps (Vox AC30, Roland JC50; BTW this is a huge part of getting good tone--two great amps on opposite sides of the room from each other, gives a full, rich sound); Boss ME50 multi-effects pedal on the presence setting, compression w/ some moderate level, some reverb, and some distortion with the various knobs tweaked just so. The two amps and the Boss multi pedal for me are musts...

+modfather1965 Thanks for posting. I have been a Jam fan since I was a kid, around '79 . I never knew Yanks liked the Jam! Finally got a 330 in 2013! You nail the tone so well . What colour is that 335? I noticed you have a Tortoise guard and TV knobs, strange on a 335 but beautiful :-)

The guitar is Mapleglo from 1966. She's pretty beat up, but I love it. Yeah, the plastic on it now is a bit unusual... Had her outfitted in gold plastic previously, which looked great, but then my mo-in-law knocked my guitar over and broke the main guard. Rather than just replace that one guard, I thought I would try something completely different which I've only seen on one other Ric... Tortoise shell. Anyway, I like it. BTW--plenty of Yanks love The Jam. It's too bad Weller didn't care more about the USA market. We were dying over here to see them; I missed each show, as they only hit the biggest cities (LA, NYC, Chicago, etc.).

Dig your mod wardrobe as well as your gear collection! Can only find Fred Perry polos in Nordstrom and Ben Sherman gear in Lord and Taylor stores here in the Northeast! Do you buy most of your stuff online?

Thanks for the compliment. Actually, I got this shirt on a recent trip to L.A. (Melrose Ave.) to visit a buddy and see Johnny Marr play. Thrift stores are also quite good, I find (or trips to the UK... Some clothes end up costing MUCH more than others, but they are part of the experience). Truth is, you can find just about anything on Ebay, and for much less than friggin department stores... Cheers.

Well, I almost lost this channel a year or so ago when Google changed things up, as it's what they call a "legacy account," and I had forgotten my original password/username, and the email address associated with it is now defunct. So yeah--shit can happen, ay?

Indeed... That live version does have a somewhat different intro. I've worked this intro out on my own, I guess, assuming I was playing it right. Sounds good to me.;-)
