Love Clarence Thomas! His true greatness is exhibited by his humility and respect and love of common Americans. Concur with Justice Thomas's views on RVing. As both a RV & RV Park owner myself, I can tell you there's no better way to get to know a cross-section of everyday Americans than by visiting an RV park. We've had visitors such as major airline CEOs, major sports and media figures interspersed with veterinarians and blue-collar workers...literally. It has truly been an extraordinary and eye-opening experience (30 years of camping) and we encourage everyone to get out and see America with no pretensions just like Justice Thomas!

I appreciate Thomas' philosophy on how to present writings in a form that binds the average man to the constitution, his theories on direct communication are spot on. He also discussed how sometimes his heart goes one way yet his opinion has to stick with the law....very much like Gorsuch. He certainly puts the responsibility of maintaining the court as it should be on the right shoulders....the court's.

Where is the discussion on bribing a government official? Odd that the friendship started after the Justice was seated on the court.

I really enjoyed his explanation for how you can't understand the constitution as a stand alone document but that it must be understood in combination with the declaration of independence. (41:18) and his views on stare decisis (46:45)

It was sad to hear Justice Thomas talk about how he still misses Justice Scalia.

How interesting the reason for the JOSEPH STORY Distinguished Lecture. He was appointed a Supreme Court Judge in 1812 and served until 1845, due to death. He taught at Harvard Law School while still serving on the Supreme Court, and was a true constitutional devotee. He clearly understood the clarity of the Constitution by our illustrious founders, who so carefully put the most important document ever written for a country into law; and it stands today as a shining beacon of democracy at its finest....Freedom is it's middle yet unofficial "name" and we can truly say Thank you to God for those very brave men.

Justice Thomas really is comparable to a God amongst men. He speaks to us as people, but with a higher knowledge/perspective. He would absolutely deny it being as humble and knowing as he is but he is a very arguable character to a God. I appreciate Clarence Thomas very much just because he is living proof the American dream is alive and real. Justice Thomas will never see this comment I make here but I hope he feels and/or understands he is a great hope for many others to become great people. God Bless you Clarence Thomas, and thank you for bringing light into the dark that we fall to in our everyday, pedestrian lives.

So far Gorsuch has been as similar to Scalia as promised.

Justice Thomas said the opinions should make sense to the people using words they can understand. If all laws were required to be written on the 5th grade level, they would be far longer; but much more easily understood. Use two hundred dime words rather than one twenty dollar word we cannot understand.

The last discussion about his trips around the US and the constituency of the Constitution was most moving and shows his humility and grasp of the American way of life. He is the most principled Justice our Court has had-at least in the modern era.

What is tabby house? Page 226 A tabby house originally stood on the present site of the Wallace House. At one time, the three families living in the 600 block of Bay Street boasted fifteen children each, for a total of forty-five offspring. They also had a total of a hundred servants among them. The tabby house and its next-door neightbor were destroyed by fire in 1907. The story goes that two young boys were sneaking cigarettes near the present site of the bridge to Lady's Island. When they heard someone approaching, they hastily discarded their burning ciga- rettes, which just happened to fall into a loaded hay wagon. The resulting fire claimed some of Beaufort's best homes. The Wallace House was built on the corner before the end of that year.
