So no access holes in that block for installing the wrist pins? Piston and connecting rod assembly goes in as a subassembly unlike some other blocks where you install the rods onto the crank first before mating the halves. I sure would love to see a chart of which blocks are assembled by each different method.

Observations: Crank shaft in block, without the rods. Crank oil seal before the block halves go together. Wrist pins & C-clips before the pistons go in. Pistons go in the with the rods. Is this build order new for Sub-Performance, or peculiar to the particular engine model?

Wow amazing work. Just one question I've never built a Boxster engine before. I was just wondering when you lubricated the bolts and then torque them down would that not allow the bolt to be over torqued? I'm just curious. Thanks so much.

Correct me if I am wrong... I remember the EJ motors have to have their rods attached to the crank first, then once the case is together, the pistons are installed? Interesting... Does this make the BRZ more desirable for builders? Is there a strength or performance difference? If so, what is it? Thanks.

Funny watching a different procedure for assembly (that I have ever seen) for a boxer engine. This is more like an American V8, with the crank getting installed in the block and the hung piston/rod assemblies then fastened to the crank. I suppose the aftermarket rods facilitate this method?
@royangeles9666

irritablearchitect all FA engines are this way. It has to do with the connecting rods being offset. Piston pin hole to crank hole.

I want to build my fa20 but I get confused a bit on the names of the parts sometimes, for example you put some rings on the piston itself That you were measuring some split for clearance or something. Another thing you put one of the same rings into a tool I think to connect the piston to the rod ? Apart from that are they called bearings the thing that sit in between the crank and the block ?
@fantasyyy_
4 жыл бұрын
So basically what was touched on was . Pistons, connecting rods, head studs and bolts, crankshaft, rings for the piston. Bearings for the crank,- and some weird thing or mechanism that connects the piston the rod
