He refused to try it at all; that's what makes him a snob, the intricacies of the origins of garlic bread hardly matter when a judge refuses to eat a part of the meal because he thinks it "cheapens" it, that just seems wild to me. If Gordon Ramsey has an opinion about a dish, then even if Joe Bastianich had preconceived notions about how garlic bread should be served, it should be influential enough for him to break off a piece of it and have some. This judge to me was unbearable in most episodes, wished I could skip through him on the TV but unless I record the show, that's not happening. @jasonamaroreinert4499

@@cyanidegrapes Not that I know how Joe conducts his business, but a restaurateur should be an expert at overall presentation, consumption, quality and standards of plates. A race car driver doesn't build cars but he is an expert at driving cars and that is as relevant to a car's build quality as it's the end product and purpose he understands. It's important this show has perspectives like this and why there's always one restaurateur. He is usually a bit harsh, but how can you deny garlic bread like this on top of an italian plate isn't cheap? I like both perspectives but bruschetta is served as an appetizer or centre table spread in Joe's world
@epicskylegend7501
2 жыл бұрын
@@jasonamaroreinert4499 The problem with Joe is the fact that he almost always fails to give constructive criticism. Let's use your race car example as a reference here. A race car driver is an expert at testing cars and not building them, so naturally they should be able to give constructive feedback and tell the engineers the good and the bad. If the car is shit, they should be able to say why it's shit. If a person is an expert on critiquing the presentation and taste of food, then naturally they should be able to say what's wrong with it. Saying that the food is trash or that the car is trash is useless information. How do you expect the cook or engineer to improve if they aren't told what to improve on? Having different perspectives is always nice, but it doesn't mean that each person can't add their own piece of constructive criticism. As for garlic bread being cheap, Masterchef isn't about judging how how *expensive* a dish looks, It's about judging the presentation and most importantly the flavor of a dish. The refusal to even try elements of a dish make Joe come off as a snob especially when this particular element was meant to compliment the rest of the dish.
@willg4676
2 жыл бұрын
@@epicskylegend7501 that's a fair assessment of Joe overall, but tbh your example itself doesn't work in this context because he does actually explain what's wrong with it and offer up a solution. He explicitly says he thinks making the sausage into a pate and then spreading it on the toast wouldve been a better twist and more refined. This is probably the least annoying I've found Joe, since what I was expecting was him to throw it away like a prick, his solution even consists of keeping a piece of toast, just changing its content/flavor profile, I dont think we can even deny that the suggestion isn't bad, just phrased in a pretentious manner. You say the presentation is valid in judging, the pate suggestion is literally just that, its the same flavors (sausage, garlic, toast) presented in a different way. I feel like the hate has become a bit unnecessary on Joe, especially since imo he is acting like that on purpose, and his behavior is to emulate the "bad cop" of the 3 with there being a "nice cop", and Gordon being "harsh but fair".

@@aaron.debattista not really; in Italy they invented "bruschetta" which differs from garlic bread because of the tomatoes that are put on top of the piece of bread (lots of sliced tomatoes). @@GergiH bro i live in germany if there's anything we can do good regarding food, it's bread. But yes the taste varies a little bit when you use different bread or butter. My point is that they only have a few different types of bread and probably just one type of butter to choose from. So the garlic bread would be the the same from every contestant since they don't have other options and there is no skill involved in making the garlic bread. In other words: in my opinion the result is predictable and therefore there's no need to try it.
