You remind me of my aunt. She was in her late teens or early 20’s when this song was popular. I was about 4 and I remember watching them sing this live at my grandparents house one Friday night. I asked her if she liked the song and she said “I do like it. But I know I shouldn’t.” She was also raised Southern Baptist. My mothers family was Jewish so I never understood why she would feel guilty for liking a song, lol.

Family harmonies are untouchable. Some songs are best as a male-female duet meaning a father-daughter or brother-sister. Listen to "I heard the bluebirds sing". Marty Robbins does a good version as do Jim and Jesse. But neither male version can touch the versions by Jim Ed & Maxine Brown (brother-sister) or Hugh & Maria Doherty (Father-Daughter).

I also found "I Swear" by John Michael Montgomery..I sung this song to my sweet hubby Jerry after a near fatal wreck that put him in a wheelchair for life but together Jerry and I made it. I simply titled my faves under The Kendall's so I have them to listen to when I want a lift up. Jerry and Sugar Bear are happily watching Dale Earnhardt Sr race in Heaven with the Angels. I plan on joining Jerry and Sugar Bear and Dale Earnhardt Sr and listen to the beautiful music and watch Dale race to win with Angels. Thank you. Gloria and Bear
