Hi, I've just finished the Kerry way and I wanted to thank you because I discovered it through your videos. I agree that some stages are quite long and hard, especially the one between Waterville and Cahersiveen (we've walked the trail in the opposite direction), even in good weather. For us, the rain was not the problem, rather the heat.... Anyway, it's a really nice trail! Greetings from France.

Thank you very much for another great video! We couldn’t agree more with your opinion of The Kerry Way. It was a hike to remember! And yes, the walk from Cahersiveen to Waterville was the toughest for sure. Good luck with the final 900-something kilometers of your yourney. When we come back to Ireland for another hike we will search your library of videos for advice. Great work!!

Beatiful videos of a splendid trail. My feeling is that you would have enjoyed it even more if you took two or three more days for the hike.

Yes I think so too - at the time we had one or two time limits, and were running out of money, so we definitely pushed it a little harder than necessary. Even so, it's still one of my favourite trails!

Great job, very much enjoyed the vids! I did I guess 2/3 of the Kerry Way in September, 2019: Killarney to Caherdaniel. I'll get back one of these days to do the last legs back to Killarney. I seem to have had a better run of weather, there was only 1 day (Caherciveen to Waterville) where there was any rain to speak of. I decided to make the best 5 Euro investment of my life and took the bus to Waterville - glad you said it was worth the skip :) I justified the bus to myself as I was to meet my sister that evening for her 50th birthday dinner and wanted to make sure I was there on time and in a civil mood. If you ever do get back to the Iveragh, Valentia Island is definitely wort a look and in Caherciveen they have a couple of old fantastic ring forts that are maybe 3-4 km from the main drag. But there are so many places to go... But I will leave you with this lovely song (and video) so you can remember when you passed that wee slab tomb, and then had that beauty view of Kenmare Bay: kzitem.info/news/bejne/z3torayVjGNofmk

Well done on passing the 3km milestone! I reached Killarney on my Dublin to Dursey hike last Thursday and am back home for now. My next section is Killarney to Kenmare, then onto the Beara Way, so will intersect with a small part of the Kerry Way.

HamOnHill oh great! You’re so close to the end, best of luck with the last stretch! The Failte Hostel in Kenmare was a lovely spot to stay if you haven’t picked somewhere for there yet ☺️

Thank you so much for sharing these. I am doing a virtual challenge called the Ring of Kerry and these videos helped me emotionally connect to it during the pandemic. Someday I hope to do it in person.

Thanks for another great video (x3). I am looking at doing this trail next year, and your videos have sealed the deal. The only thing I am not decided on is whether to do it in two chunks as separate trips, due to the length really. I live in Scotland and do weekly hillwalking, so would you think this would be manageable in one go ( I am more than twice your ages though!) for a reasonably fit walker? Obviously, a single trip would be preferable from a cost point of view, given flights to Kerry etc. I would also have the benefit of using a company which transports luggage, so I would be travelling with only a day pack, which must be a huge advantage in comfort alone, I guess. Thanks again for the video series guys. Good luck with the last couple of trails!

Hello! So glad you liked the videos! Yes I think this should be doable in one trip - well, I guess it depends how long you can take in one trip? I think the luggage transfers will make it more comfortable, and less time being weighed down into the mud will let you pass faster than some of our slow sections :) Id probably also budget in an extra day over what we did, as 8 days in a row can be a bit exhausting, and also if bad weather hits it’s nice to be able to take a day off.

@@ToughSoles Thanks very much for the information. I have found a company that does an accommodation package and it is over ten days, so that sounds about right from what you said. Yes, I was concerned about that many consecutive days walking and the toll on feet with blisters and so on. So Maybe I will look at doing it in two chunks!

As a almost rest day you should have went to Derrynanne beech in the morning and walked to Castlecove in the afternoon and subsequently stay in Staigue Fort hotel which really walker friendly... Alternatively go immediately to Staigue Fort , drop your packs and day walk to the alternative Windy Gap Kerry way route immediately to the North of the hotel. Actually now that I think of it you will have to go back so as to finish the Kerry way because you missed the alternative route.....

All of the walking tour companies recommend hiking boots. I wear trail runners almost exclusively, and from your videos, I don't see any terrain that really necessitates boots. In fact, all the road and farm tracks would be so much more comfortable in trail runners. Is there a reason to wear boots? Seems like feet will be wet no matter what if it's really raining hard.
