He retired age 28 after constant hand injuries. The Power he generated was too much for his hands. He had a 7 year long reign as world champion. He became world champion at 21 and fought and beat Multiple world champions. He was on the p4p top 5 in the late 1990's. He was the first rising star from the UK to crossover to the US and became a true star. He became the first money man in the smaller divisions. He became the first man in the smaller division to make 5m and 10 million from a fight. Alot of the smaller guys gained attention and profiles became of Hamed. He was even given a HBO deal ahead of Mayweather who was An American. Hamed in one of his fights in the 1990's had P Diddy walk him out, he was on US tv with Jay Leno. He was inducted in the Hall of fame ahead of greats like Evander Holyfield. His only career losss came to Hall of famer Marco Antonio Bareera where Hamed was schooled. Hamed fell out with his trainer and struggled to make weight and tried to turn down the fight, however he was offered 10m to fight Bareera and he accepted the fight. His sole focus was to make weight. After that fight he had 1 more fight in which he won on points and failed to knockout his opponent. He then decided to retire. Mayweather tried to call out Hamed after he retired. When Hamed was 125lb (Featherweight)champ Mayweather was 130lb (Super featherweight) champ. Hamed was famed for his ring entrances. Greats like George Foreman said he was the best Showman since Ali. Mayweather copied one of Hamed's ring entrance where he was carried into the arena. Mayweather also copied Hamed when he had rappers walk him out. Hamed did that in the 1990's where he had P diddy walk him out.

@@jerrysmith7487 Naz himself said that he retired because he knew his hands were fucked and he couldn't compete at the highest level any more. (kzitem.info/news/bejne/uHiKs3uGrpt6nWk) Saying he quit boxing because he couldn't stand losing, after losing to Marco Antonio Barrera (pretty much the best in the World at the time) is pretty dumb!

Favourite boxer of all time. My era. Pretty well documented he had problems with his hands later in his career hence the early retirement. He fought Barrera with a broken hand if I remember correctly which was his one and only loss.

Naz lit the boxing world alight in the 90s, for a while there he looked untouchable... people seem to remember him getting a proper beating in the Barrera fight but in actuality that's not how it was, convincing win for MABs but it wasn't a shutout loike people claim.

I got bored so i traced Naz's IBF title. Naz beat the man who beat the man who beat the man. And over 6 years, That's as good as lineage for me. Most belts don't go back 3 fighters before someone is striped or vacates. 1. Troy Dorcey won the vacant IBF title so it starts there. He won that in 1991. 2. Manual Medina won it from Dorcey in 1991. 3. Tom Johnson won it from Medina in 1993. 4. Johnson held the title for just over 5 years before Naz beat him in 1997. Naz vacated the IBF title and broke the lineage.
