It has been a year since my daughter's diagnosis. She has completed chemo, a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. She is doing beyond well, thanks be to God, and to many of you for your prayers. Again, Buon Natale, world!

The Kings singers never fail to impress. The close harmony and immaculate tuning are a delight. Its the feeling and passion that makes every performance memorable. They are not without humour, tastefully done.

It is stunningly beautiful to hear six men sing as one flawless voice. My 33 year old daughter has just been diagnosed with breast cancer, and I have listened to this one piece about 20 times today. Buon Natale, world!

I always thought of the original version as a hymn -- and this version solidified my theory. This song is beautiful to listen to, and also very fun to perform! We've done it at the Church Christmas concert a few times. We don't sound nearly as amazing as the King's Singers, but we still sound pretty dang good!

LYRICS You are the new day. Meekness, love, humility Come down to us this day: Christ, your birth has proved to me You are the new day. Quiet in a stall you lie, Angels watching in the sky Whisper to you from on high "You are the new day". When our life is darkest night, Hope has burned away; Love, your ray of guiding light, Show us the new day. Love of all things great and small Leaving none, embracing all, Fold around me where I fall, Bring in the new day. This new day will be A turning point for everyone. If we let the Christ-child in, and Reach for the new day. Christ the Way, the Truth, the Life; Healing sadness, ending strife; You we welcome, Lord of life, Born on a new day. You are the new day.

Couldn't disagree more ItalanFindart. Johnny has proven to be an incredible asset to the sound, especially on "Great American Songbook". Each KS's group has their own sound within the parameters of the supreme excellence of ensemble that they create. I will have to open my ear to allow for Paul Phoenix moving on to his new career, but I promise that I will let Julian create his place within the group. It is a marvel how amazingly consistent the KS's have been throughout their history, and we all have come to expect nothing less. I loved Stephen Connolly as well, but Johnny is great! Life and music is a process, and I will always strive to embrace it!

We heard the 2018 KS in Seattle in April and it was stunning. Johnny emphatically provides stellar bass, and while "profundo" is not his strength, I daresay the way the current King's Singers voices blend is a new level of sublime. They sing as "one voice" better than ever.

The bass section suffer A LOT without Stephen Connolly. He was a real bass sometimes with a timbre like a "profondo". Jonathan Howard is a good singer but his voice doesn't support the group and they lost a lot of "sound colors". His voice isn't a natural deep bass it's more like a Baritone/Bass. The KS can't continue to perform in this way!!! Look at the bass section of "Amarcord" Group or "Chanticleer" (with Eric Alatorre)... If from Aug 2014 the KS will lose also Paul Phoenix... wow... i don't want to image the fucture.

Yes, they lost some depth at the bass end. This is still a glorious performance. But I agree, it's something they should be addressing.

from hearing Johnny Howard's bottom Cs live I can't help but disagree with you! It's a very different sound to Stephen, but not necessarily detrimental to the ensemble. It would be daft to describe him as a bari/bass though!
@DubbaDanny12

I would have to say that both of the singers are unique in their own style of singing. Jonathan's tambour of voice blends very well with the group, especially when he sings higher among the baritones. Stephen tends to stick out on lighter and higher notes in his range. However, Jonathan cannot always project notes in his lower range and Stephen can belt them if he really wanted to and create a new color. They both grow better musically with every day that goes by and will learn what tendencies they make when singing and how they can adjust.

Howard has matured a lot since we first heard him. I think I would prefer his sound to Connolly at this point.
