This is the best version of this song I've ever heard. Johnny Parrack is amazing. I was fortunate to know he man who wrote this song, Conrad Cook, and hear his story of why he wrote this song. Conrad wrote many other songs and along with his wife Patty Noe Cook sang southern gospel for many years.

Glory Road was written by Conrad Cook of the Calvarymen Quartet of West Virginia. The group consisted of tenor singer Virgil Parsons, lead singer Squire Parsons, baritone Jim Humphreys and bass Bernard Cook. Piano player was Conrad Cook who also sang. The Calvarymen recorded the song in 1970. At the time Conrad couldn't fathom Glory Road would be so widely sung by gospel artists and groups Looking through the internet sites, I can see that the Kingsmen are getting credit for writing the lyrics et cetera. Well, they didn't. Anyone in the gospel field knows that Conrad Cook wrote the song. .
