Perhaps it’s because you’re older and the sentimental aspect of the song makes you feel wistful. It is also very StockAitken&Waterman-esque. In 1990 that was probably a negative. Everyone was sick of 80’s pop. Now it doesn’t seem so bad. Or that might be why I like this song now. 😂

An interesting single. Back in Summer 89 this was supposed to be a huge hit in the UK in order to promote The White Room Film and Soundtrack .... BUT it completely flopped! (somewhere outside top 100 if memory serves me right). The net result was they binned the original 89 version of the White Room album and the Film was never completed (though this video is made up from excerpts from it) ..... K cera cera (luckily all the tracks survived!) The A side was Bill/Jimmy's witty but mild pisstake of SAW's aussie popsters while purposely sounding very Pet Shop Boys and SAWish at the same time. Anyone who lived in the UK in the late 80s would remember that around this time SAW, Kylie, Jason were everywhere. This single may have failed to chart as perhaps it was abit too clever,,, Radio 1 refused to play it as they didn't want to offend Kylie+Jason young fans (there were admittedly lots of them)... But If truth be told , B&J were fans of both PSB and SAW/Pete Waterman (look up Brilliant - signed to SAW containing B+J before the JAMS!,,, Jimmy/Bill really only had good things to say about Waterman and vice versa. Personally I used to bump into Pete Waterman in his fave cafe in Borough High St (sadly gone now - this was near his old studio) and so I once asked him about the KLF....Pete loved the KLF, he thought Bil and Jimmy were hugely gifted though abit crazy and he wasn't wrong........ The B side was the KLF back in 'Pure Trance' mode. Worth a listen. If the A side is pure pop the B side was pure trance; ....showing you there were many sides/faces to the KLF!!! For trance fans - check out the rare re-remixes (KLF010RR - Kylie Said Trance/Kylie Said Mu) , definitely worth a listen...... it's ALL in the mind ;
