Agree! XG come up with western style sound song matching their bold concept, and they did it great especially highlight some vocals and raps in good tones, suiting international market as general (and they are not bothering to pursue kpop sound style since they are jpop who pursue international market). Meanwhile, nmixx song is considered messy, not only for korean market but also for international taste. I hope nmixx comeback is way better to highlight the girls talents.

To me “Tippy Toes” is hands down the best debut of the year so far and that means something because I was excited for TEMPEST’s debut for literal months and I absolutely loved it but “Tippy Toes” completely threw “Bad News” off my personal number 1 spot, simply due to its unique nature. I have never heard a song by a KPop group and much less a JPop group like that. It was so different, so badass, so exceptionally cool and it’s so addictive to listen to. I’ve seen all the material the girls have put out so far and they’re crazy talented. And OMG don’t even get me started on Jurin in the MV!! She’s a literal goddess! Rare is the day that PD posts a non K-Pop reaction on this channel. Thanks PD, I love XG and can't wait to see what they do next. Just one clarification: YG Japan is a legally distinct entity from YGE. YG Japan and AVEX created XGALX as a joint venture, but YGE had nothing to do with it. Many people will tell you that YG Japan has nothing to do with this, which is not true, but it's confusing because most people don't seem to understand that the statement YGE made was to clarify that they are in no way legally connected to YG Japan despite sharing a name and a large number of share holders 😅 If you look at the money though, AVEX and YG Japan both are responsible for the creation of XGALX.

There definitely is a difference in the color grading and it is simply due to becoming accustomed to the trend of over-saturation of color in Kpop videos. It is like Korea suddenly discovered Technicolor. If you're too young for Technicolor, the Someone in the Crowd dance scene in La La Land is the modern-day Technicolor. I think it is distracting sometimes to the point that more seems to be budgeted toward wardrobe and backgrounds to instill nonstop CGI and fantasmagoric shades of every color in the crayon box. I think saturated colors don't work with what they want in this video, which is industrial in the group dance sets vs the more colorful individual scenes. No distractions which seem to be the point of Kpop videos. I don't give a crap about fireworks sparks in the background. This song is subtle, it's a vibe. It is Western feeling, a club dance feeling. Like Billy Eilish's songs, it doesn't feel like the typical structure that people are used to. Ever listened to 'Bad Guy?' Thank God, I wasn't looking forward to another imitation of Kpop and its confined structure, which is a formula. They want to be the innovators, not the followers. I didn't want to hear a weak imitation of Kpop. I didn't want to hear rehashed Jpop. The members are all distinctive in looks. No one looks like another. This is so normal in girl groups that are not AKB. The funeral and the coffin represent the death of the old Jpop and unlike most funerals, there's a smile on their faces as they say goodbye to the old guard. This song put down a beat and led off with rap. "we gon whisper to ya super super quiet" tells you that this is going to be smooth as glass. Featured five members who can rap. I can't hear enough BASS! Keep it going through the song. Addictive. Literally makes me get up and want to dance. The lyrics are gauntlet thrown down to let the world know they are here to slay. I think their pre-debut dance cover elevated people's expectations about their M/V. Was this a dance team? Then with their Peaches cover. Wow, they can sing in English. Then their Kill Bill rap cover, in English and Japanese, again no one knew who they were. I think they are here to change what the world thinks about Japanese music. And that's good. By the way, the Japanese dance training system has always been incredible. This is AVEX! Of course they will have dance skills. E-girls kzitem.info/news/bejne/mJecnX-okH2kgoo

Jakops made his debut as a singer in Korea as the executive producer of XG, and has been engaged in Kpop as a producer and songwriter for over 13 years. His father is Korean and his mother is Japanese, he has Japanese nationality and was born in the United States. XG's song composition and group concept were all produced by him. Also, Jacobs mentioned that XG is an all-Japan girl group that was created as a collaboration project between Korea and Japan Avex. And if you watch XG's demo video, you can see the rooftop overlooking the Han River, the background of X Academy (YG below), and 1MILLION Dance Studio. It is known that they traveled back and forth between Korea and Japan to receive vocal and dance training. 'Tippy Toes' is a good song in English and I expect XG to do good as a global group.

XG is a group that was born with all their might through a global project that they have been preparing for over 5 years. The group consists of Japanese members who practiced with the K-pop system in Korea and set global goals with English songs. XG Executive Producer Jakops (Junho Park) debuted as a singer in Korea and has been engaged in Kpop as a producer and composer for over 13 years. His father is Korean, his mother is Japanese, he is of Japanese nationality and was born in the United States. XG's song composition and the whole group concept were produced by him. 'Tippy Toess' songs are well choreographed, addictive and stylish. It looks like an evolved version of Kpop. Making the song in English is an important point. In that sense, the XG group will be a group that can receive enough stimulation for K-pop.

April 22, 2022, producer JAKOPS said on Instagram Live, "I've been working on the XG project for 4years and my base was mostly in Japan" They are under AVEX. they were training in Japan. (They were training at「AVEX ARTIST ACADEMY HEAD OFFICE STUDIO」in JAPAN *XG video: (The Beginning ,The Journey) YGX appears momentarily, but most of it is a training scene at 「AVEX ARTIST ACADEMY HEAD OFFICE STUDIO」) The MV producer and choreographer are Korean and were shot in South Korea. The first video was uploaded in February 2022. Given that, they may have been in South Korea for preparation in 2021. I think Simon's four years mean either the four years from 2017 to 2021. The MV dance performance uses YGX, but YGX is a dance studio, so anyone can use.

This is the most in-depth analysis I have seen. Thanks. I love this debut though. Super happy that Japan is finally going for the world stage. I think that hook is super-catchy and it is going to become huge in certain areas. I like that the dance scenes were simple, so you focus on the girls and the dance and not the set. Also, the best measure of how well they will do internationally is probably the fact that most of the comments under the video are in Portuguese and Spanish, then English, then Japanese. lol

23.02.02: XG is a Japanese group that's released English lyric only songs since debut in 2022. XG was promoted on major Kpop music shows, SBS Inkigayo, KBS Music Bank, MBC Show Music Core, and Mnet M Countdown, but made no appearance at the MMA, MAMA or any Kpop award show due to poor sales in the Korean and American market. They did okay on iTunes internationally and in Japan. Is it b/c no songs are in Japanese or Korean?

I like how subdued and chill the song is, the current trend of KPop music has just gone too loud and experimental lately. 4th Gen groups should really take a break from the badass/girl crush concept. *I'm talking to you JPYE!*

These girls are badass. Love everything but I agree the bass is a bit repetitive, I guess they are going for the whispering effect. It would be perfect if they make the singing parts richer to make the contrast bigger with the hook and the rap parts. Also, I agree the camera work is a bit bland but I like the direction.

It’s crazy to come back to this video and listen to your deep take on XG. Global almost felt so out of reach for this unknown girl group who didn’t have much backing. When they debuted they didn’t even have the chance to perform on music shows and now with all the love they have stepped into the k-pop space despite their music being all in English. Seeing the impact that their new singles Shooting Star and Left Right have done is crazy. I was unsure of how this group was going to progress and I think Simon (JAKOPS) and XGALX have done great with showcasing their talents. So proud that they are now invited and shown on the lineup for the 88rising Up in The Clouds music festival in New York. This is massive for them. They are really taking Global group seriously. Cheers to them!

Just for your information, this brandnew group has nothing to do with YG as explained in their February press release. The joint venture you mentioned of is YGEX, not XGALX to which this group belongs.

I feel they would've have easily been compared to kpop and they played it different and a little safe to not be called "copy"

It's like the girls themselves executed everything perfectly, it's just that the camera couldn't keep up with them and I think that's why it feels sort of lacking. But other than that, this debut is _amazing_. They all have a certain charm to them that keeps you on your "tippy toes" lmao. I especially like the girl with the pretty eyes and the hat at the podium. I look to what this group has in store for us in the future.

YG denied the involvement... For my understanding only Hinata is(was) a YG trainee thou, and it's weird TBH because they are on Weverse, (Avex don't use Weverse, because they don't have a deal with Hybe) and neither Avex or Xgex promoted the group(as part of them, they don't follow the account or talked about it)... I think that there are two options: 1. Both companies want XGALX to be totally independent(Maybe only Avex). 2. XGALX is not related to neither company, because except for Hinata(ex YG), Jurin(Avex) and Cocona(Avex), the rest is out of competitions in Japan.

I"m really glad to see japan stepping up with their girl/idol groups tbh. there's something about Japanese music that I actually really like, but I can never get into their ggs (mainly akb). it looks like this company is invested in quality...we just need better music lol.

J-Pop(and the Japanese music industry in general) is actually pretty diverse musically, at least compared to K-Pop. In J-Pop, you have the idol groups and then you have regular, non-idol groups like FAKY and Happiness. And even among idol groups, there's diversity there. You have your AKB48 and Nogizaka46-type groups but then you have idol groups like NiziU and BiSH that don't sound like the former groups. With K-Pop, all boy and girl groups fall under the idol label automatically.

@@MrSuperjam789 true, i actually wonder if xg would be considered an "idol" grouping japan or "girl group." would the expectations be different for them? Im guessing niziu would be considered an idol group but they're from jyp so that label seems automatic.

@@SiaLi- So far, I haven't seen anything to indicate XG is considered an idol group. NiziU is considered an idol group.

For all the people confused what agency they're from and who owns the label. No connection to YGE other then YGX was paid to train the girls in the X academy training room. DMTN's Simon is Producing New Girl Group XG Set to Debut 2022 Simon, known as a member of the 2nd Generation boy group DMTN announced he is producing a female idol group. On January 21, Simon held a Zoom meeting along with fellow DMTN member Jeesu, to introduce the girl group project he had been working hard on producing for the past 5 years. The girl group is called XG and will debut sometime in 2022! The group is a collaboration project between South Korea and Japan's Avex. This project included Ezaki Hikaru a participant in Girls Planet 999 and current member of Kep1er. More information about the confirmed members of the group will be released soon. After introducing the girl group project Simon held a fan chat and answered questions about XG.
