This very unusual lake in Death Valley formed recently after Hurricane Hilary struck California. This doesn't happen very often so get your boat out soon!
Death Valley is a large park encompassing of 5000 square miles. It is located in California and some parts of Nevada. “Badwater” is the lowest point in the continental United States at -282 ft. below sea level.
This location also boast the hottest ambient temperature ever recorded on earth at 134 degrees in 1913. Normally, the lack of rainfall and the temperatures make this a very dry place. The last time water formed a lake at Badwater was in 2019, but this phenomenon is rare.
