A visit to the Lappa Valley Railway now which consists of three separate railways built to different gauges. The main railway (15in gauge) was built on the trackbed of the Newquay to Chacewater branchline and runs for 1 mile from a station called Benny Halt, to East Wheal Rose, the site of an old metalliferous mine where the engine house and chimney stack still remain, this is also where the two other railways are situated. The second railway (7¼in gauge) is known as the Woodland Railway and runs in a small circuit about a fifth of a mile long. The third railway (10¼in gauge) is called the Newlyn Branchline and runs for a further half mile along the Newquay to Chacewater branchline's trackbed.
Locos running during our visit were:
- 0-6-4PT 'Zebedee' built in 1974 by Severn Lamb of Stratford-upon-Avon.
- 0-6-0DH 'Eric' built in 2008 by Alan Keef Ltd of Ross-on-Wye.
- 4w+4w APT built by Mardyke Miniature Railways of Rainham.
Filmed on a Panasonic HDC-HS900 with a Panasonic VW-VMS2E Microphone.
