Spent an entire summer on Isle Royale a few decades back, truly an enchanting place, I remember visiting one of the smaller islands and was awestruck to find this island carpeted in a lush green moss, it was surrealistic.

@@dreamislands; I was assigned through the student conservation association, as a Park-ranger Interpreter. I've even submitted a story of a moose I ran into, to the Almanac this year. Their category was 'Most memorable wildlife experience.

Been there twice. Hiked and camped there for a total of 8 days.. There is something about that place you can hardly put a finger on.. All i know is it calls me back.. Viewing the stars on that island is soo amazing. Since there is no light pollution

@@dreamislands Thank you for making the video. If I could attach photos in the comments I would.. One thing thing that is super cool about the Island.. enough time has passed where the wildlife isn’t scared of people.. So the foxes will walk up super close.. the moose are in no hurry to get out of your way.. Theyre like yeah, yeah, I’ll let you pass in couple minutes.. They’re trying to reintroduce wolves.. to curb the moose population as of the last 5 years… but they’re having a hard time cause if a land bridge freezes over, to the mainland. the wolves keep escaping.. as you know an animal population unchecked with no predators can start to cause harm. It’s a magical island my guy.. If you ever wanted to go.. my brother and my best friend keep reminiscing about it.. You won’t walk away going, mehh it was alright.. I guarantee it… One last thing.. the island keeps the Willy nilly tourists away. As it’s not some easy. If I get tired there’s a highway nearby..

Theres nothing on Ryan Islet. It's a nice spot to dock the canoe for lunch while enjoying the epic, legendary fishing on and around ISRO.

All I can think about are the animals on these tiny islands and stories of their pasts. Sure, ducks and other birds can easily reach them, but other animals would have to swim.

Isle Royale is everything Manitoulin pretends to be. It doesn't even feel like an island on Manitoulin, because you are in your car. Not even a road on Isle Royale, in fact it's the farthest place from a road in the lower 48 states.

Great video, BUT.. you mention your upbringing in Michigan, but you say isle royal wrong. We don't say RoyAL, like Casino RoyAL, we say Isle ROYal, like ROYal birth. I'm from northern michigan, and that's how it's said by one and all

You mean people from Michigan might pronounce some words differently?!? C'mon Kayla. 😂 I'm from upstate New York. There is a creek called 18 mile creek and most there call it a "crick" I was raised there and say creek. Is your mind blown?
@Geriatricbaby
Жыл бұрын
@@mototoad1242You shouldn’t comment on stuff you aren’t knowledge about because Kayla is 100% correct. It’s pronounced isle royal and not isle royAL. It’s similar to a Michigander pronouncing the C in Mackinac instead of knowing to say “Mackinaw.” May I ask, is your mind blown? Lmao.

When did we start defining islands like that? When I was a kid (~20 years ago) we had a Geography song which called Australia "the biggest island and the smallest continent"
@cmyk8964

The definition of “continent” has never been very clear-cut. The difference between a continent and an island is, in conclusion, arbitrarily defined. Currently, generally, by English speakers, Australia is considered the smallest continent, not the largest island, although not always.

The caspian sea is the largest lake in the world. Lake superior is No 2
@jbentson36
2 жыл бұрын
The Caspian sea is called a sea and not Caspian Lake because it's water is not truly fresh like Lake Superior. OK, the Caspian sea is not as salty as most other seas or the oceans, but it is definitely not fresh like lakes. Lake Superior is still #1.
