In Shona Mwenemutapa is Imwe (one) Ne(with) Mutapa( what is given/inheritance). Sounds like Maat-hotep or Matipa? Ne-prefix is also used in Neswt(owner of the sedge) ancient Egyptian word for King. In Shona it would be NeUswa (owner of the sedge). Interestingly these maps all mention 'Luna Montes' mountains of the moon below Zaire, like in the Papyrus of Hunefer. Also Toroa is the Torwa dynasty, a sub Kingdom in the spere of influence of Mutapa Empire. Torwa means 'taken' as in conqured.

Alot of these architectures in medieval Southern Africa feel like a nod to Ancient Egypt before Greek and Roman colonization, I wouldn't be surprised if this caught on to modern day Namibia and Botswana, you'd have another set of pyramids and sphinx like statues made from sand and whatever else.

The empire, for that is what is, was truly expansive, we are accustomed to look at Great Zimbabwe as the all and be all, but it was certainly no mere kingdom it was an empire.
