This was the first film I saw when I moved to LA in August of 1982. I lived on Russell and Western, right up the street from Vincenzo's pizza. I ate there a lot, we actually used it as a meeting place calling it Pinks. Decent pizza. Most of the locations except for the diner on Beverly blvd. (which I ate at when Canters was too busy) were in place until the early 00s when Hollywood went on a demolishing binge. I was paying $350.00 per month for a tiny one bedroom, but man did I have a blast. The Strip was jumping, Hollywood blvd was the domain of hookers and good natured drug dealers. I've called LA my home for 40 years and now I can't wait to leave. Great vids keep 'em coming. We appreciate the hard work.

Bro great job and as a 55yr old today who was 15 in 1982 when i first saw this movie it helped define what life was like for a teenager during that time…thru the years i saw it on reruns and then bought a DVD just to have it. It actually made me sad to see how much it has all changed, great to know some places are still there but just the reality it was 40+ years ago is just so surreal to me….I’ve never been to California but in the 80’s that was the place everyone wanted to live, not so much today from what i hear. I wish i could go into a Time Machine and visit these places during the early 80’s but I can’t and that’s why movies like LAV are so precious to me, because that era i miss so much is caught on film and every once in awhile i can suspend present reality and watch this movie and just go back to a innocent, better time…..thank you for all your hard research. You look too young to have lived during the era of this movie, man you woulda loved it, it was such a fun time and had such a profound effect on us we’re still talking about it 40+ years later…thanks again!

I used to feel sorry for Gary. But over the years, I realized he probably got what he deserved in the end, after flattening Karen's tire, trying to break up his best friend's relationship, completely using Millie, trashing Victor's car, and completely treating Rose like garbage when she showed him so much affection.

I love all your videos. Wanted to let you know that red brick building you talk about in the beginning when Gary pulls out of the pizza place. That is called the Gershwin Hotel. I actually lived in that dump for a few months. They have filmed quite a few movies there as well. That’s where John Travolta lives in the movie staying alive and author, Kenneth anger and musician Gidget Gein lived there as well. I think it’s still an apartment building. They upscaled it a little. And across the street, from that hotel on the corner building is where the cops look out where Judd Reinhold on a payphone in ruthless people. Another fantastic entry. My friend and I did the locations when I lived in Burbank. But it’s great to see this KZitem upload. Thankfully, Carmela’s place still looks exactly the same.

Your videos take me right back to the innocent and happy times. I also seeing your videos touring around because I have all my life felt like the “stork” made an error, and dropped me off on the Canadian Prairies one Christmas Day, instead of in Southern California where I am meant to be!!! I have lived on the east coast of US while in University (MA) but never got to CA, my dream - though I was all but accepted to Laguna Beach Art and Design, but my Canadian family convinced me I should move back “home” to Canada instead. I can’t imagine what my life would be now if I’d not listened to them and followed my dreams. Perhaps that’s all it will ever be is dreams, I though I truly feel I am displaced and always have, sadly. Maybe I will get to visit someday but in meantime I thank you Kurt for all of your hard work I’m putting all of these videos together for us, I truly appreciate it. -Tanis on the presently frozen Canadian prairies (-21F rn to - a warm trend, and yet my bones are hurting! :( )
