A great story - albeit a sad one, regarding one of history's best-known "good guys". We remember him for ending the Jews' captivity in Babylon, and sending them back to their homeland (as recounted in several books of the Old Testament). But as with so many other people in history, Cyrus didn't become king by always being a nice guy. He had to be tough as nails! And no doubt Tomyris was just as tough. In retrospect, it seems that Cyrus dodged a bullet by not marrying her! lol ....PS...Loved the commentary. It adds so much to the story. Thanks!!

Thanks for the comment! It is unique how near-universally Cyrus was admired in the ancient world-even when Greek authors become more anti-Persian following the Persian invasions, they still want to distinguish Cyrus from what his successors like Xerxes did, and hold him up as a good example.
