@@DEADGAME1805 Okay, now here we go with Kobe doin it by himself with nobody! Kobe was no doubt an all world talent, but second to who he learned and patterned everything he did after, in relation to his game MJ. He said it himself! Come on guy, ask yourself this, What was the knock on Kobe? What were most guys only complaint about him? He shot the ball to much! Even Shaq said that when he was there, but the more important question was, "Did Kobe Bryant really give others a chance to come into their own"? Did he really give them a chance legitimately to establish their own court identities the way MJ allowed Pippen to? Or was it always, he had to establish his killer Mamba Mode so that everyone would know he was the second coming of MJ? Phil Jackson was very critical in his book and on a number of occasions even when Shaq was there about Kobe's selfishness! He even said at one point he was,🤔 UNCOACHABLE! Derick Fisher, Lamar Odom, and Robert Horry could have all been legitimate Allstars, if Bryant wouldn't have been so ball dominant. He was a *Cold Blooded Assassin, Yes! An Unstoppable Offensive Force, Definately, but it's also a known fact that he monopolized the ball to much for to many years for anyone else to establish their presence on the floor with him. Shannon Brown could have been an All-star, but did Kobe take him under his wing? No, but instead because of his raw athletic talent, he was looked at as someone who'd potentially take Kob's shine away, so don't make it seem as though he didn't have guys who were capable. It was just that he never really allowed the select few others that played with him and that had the ability, the opportunity to become Allstars.... I'm not saying his way didn't work. He got 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆 of these, but that was the Knock on Kobe back in the late 90's to 2000's. There's only 3 G.O.A.T.S 🐐's guy, Bill Russell, Kareem and MJ.....

Jermaine, I agree with you, Glide was also one of a kind, but T. Porter, B. Williams and Duckworth, Kersey and them boyz just weren't mentally tough enough. They don't show it, but I have the series on DVD and Clyde did some pretty incredible things against Chicago overall in that series! He was a force to be reckoned with in that series too, even though he was outplayed by MJ. If Clyde had that (Line Drive Jumper Going), the way he could attack the rim, not many in the league could stop him, and Magic, and all the others over there on the West Coast would to you that! Could you picture him with the Knicks or Pacers back then? Him and Reg, or Starks sharing shooting guard responsibilities? Could it have worked? Maybe not, but if he was moved to small forward, Who Knows? I was a Bulls fan through and through in the 90's, and I always wondered what would have happened if Drexler would have come over to the Eastern Conference.....🤔 We'll never know.......

After watching The Last Dance up to this point, there was no way to not motivate Michael if you're going up against him. You talk trash, he takes it an offense and destroys you. You put up points and win a game, he comes back and destroys you next game. You avoid him, shut your mouth and avoid the press, he makes up a reason to destroy you from that point on. You yell at your players from the sideline as a coach, he thinks you're over the top and makes an example of your team to shut you up. He was going to find a reason to feel a slight, irritation or something in order to motivate himself to come up with the effort to beat you. The psychological games he played with teammates and opponents was in itself amazing. But how he even manipulated his own emotions and thoughts to get what he wanted was the true masterpiece. The guy literally fooled himself into believing what he wanted in order to pull every last bit of effort, energy and will he could out of his body in order to win. It's a good thing he was a good basketball player, or else he would probably be behind the greatest serial killings the world has ever seen.

People need to realize that by the end of the 1990s, team average pts per game dropped to a miserable 90 pts, today it's 110. The 1990s were a defense-minded era, so much so the NBA changed some rules to push those numbers back up. Drexler averaged 20pts per game in an era when teams consistently scored less than 100pts per game. In the 1980s, he averaged 26-27 pts.
@reggiegriffin3277

It’s ain’t just the defense bro. You have more advanced skilled players in this era offensively. You have new footwork moves, fakes, handles, crossovers, euro steps etc. even the dunking is more advanced. You have big men that can play like point guards now. You know what that’s called? “Evolution ”It’s a more advanced league. So your logic is invalid. I get tired of this 90s this and 90s that. Get over it.
@daviddufresne343
2 жыл бұрын
@@reggiegriffin3277 The rules are called looser, that's the difference. Athletic evolution was pretty much done by the 70s. By the early 00s teams realized white American players were no good and stopped drafting them except late in the first or second round.
@pullupsandboba8937
10 ай бұрын
Yes you were allowed to play defense more but 30 years later, the NBA is just more athletic now and the pace is faster. 7 footers shooting 3’s, guarding the perimeter, and handling the rock was unheard of in the 90’s, now it’s normal.
@dinok.3809
9 ай бұрын
Alot of the ways of 90s Euro ball transfered to the NBA by late 90s, early 00s. The Euro step, and bigs playing the perimeter, shooting the long ball was their staple there, and 90s NBA wasn't ready for that yet. We were too in love with lower scoring in-the-paint battles with defenses waging wars with megastar Centers, and highlight reel dunks. Then in 94 a guy named Toni Kukoc came to the Bulls and showed us what a 6'11 guy looks like bringing the ball up the court with Magic Johnson court vision/passing, and Larry Bird 3 ball range. We also saw some of that with Sabonis on the Blazers mid to late 90s. By early 00s it became more and more common, and fast forward to now, the NBA is Frankenstein experiment of part Euro ball, part 90s athleticism. That's really all it is now. It's 50/50. I think the main drawback though, is stiffer officiating than the 90s, and that's mostly to blame Malice at the Palace.

Clyde Drexler was actually a little bit faster than Jordan end to end..clocked faster in the 40 yard dash.. He was an excellent rebounder and averaged 8 assists/game one year as a shooting guard. His mid range game wasn't nearly as good as Jordan's, but over his career he was probably a better three point shooter. Game 1 of the 1992 finals makes me think Jordan could of been a fantastic three point shooter if he chose to. A 1991 Bulls/Blazer game double overtime..11/29/91..really shows the remarkable athleticism of these two players. Drexler puts an unbelievable move on Scottie Pippen. The Bulls prevailed in this game in Portland, but I read one account that claimed Jordan had to leave the building on a stretcher after the game. I believe his back was bothering before the game. Both Clyde and Michael could dunk from the free throw line and Clyde damn near dunked from the free throw line in a game versus the Lakers early in his career. Clyde bettered Jordan in the 1992 All Star game and the Western Conference romped. He snatched Jordan's first shot right out of the air(cupped it when he maybe should have swatted to a teammate a la Bill Russell since the East retained possession). He dunked UNDER Jordan in transition and threw a move off of the backboard on Jordan and Isiah that defied description. I can't think of anything Clyde ever did to tarnish his reputation. Don Nelson once did by saying he was the most overrated player in the league(Nelson later apologized and said he was wrong about Clyde when he coached the 1992 Western all stars) and I really liked the teams/players he coached with The Bucks. Clyde Drexler was a phenomenal athlete and is a first rate individual.

That said, Clyde had a great supporting cast but the team choked at the end of the games. They would be in it all game and the last 3 minutes they'd turn it over. Great team, but bad timing with mistakes. Clyde was the star and did everything. Porter was a good shooter, Kersey could score and defend but inconsistent scoring. Buck Williams couldn't score to save his life, but a dang good defender. Duckworth couldn't play the big man game that Shaq got away with, had some trouble scoring. Had he been allowed to be physical like Shaq or even Laimbeer...Duck could've been a top center. But that was the Blazer curse...

Clyde was an inch taller and I don't think he was stronger than Jordan, he certainly didn't look it when matched against Jordan. Also, he was not as much of a physical specimen as Jordan. A couple things. Clyde was never going to take 25 shots so he could never be Jordan. In that finals he was covered by two of the greatest defensive players of all time and the both played the position he played, SF, SG. In 1990 the pistons beat Clyde’s blazers in 5. Drex averages about 25ppg in that series. In 1992, Clyde loses to the bulls in 6. He also averages about 25ppg in that series. The bad boys took care of the blazers faster and yet the historical narrative from that 1992 series is that jordan eviscerated and outclassed drexler and his crew, while nothing notable is really said about the pistons victory. The last dance took every single jordan finals opponent and built them up just to knock them down. Such a skewed documentary.
