this should've just been a spiritual successor to Bloodsport with David Yeung as the lead playing Chong Li's son and we focus on his journey to win an upcoming Kumite tournament that plays out like the first one. Not this cheesy story of kidnapping and intended fights to the death, just a straight up tournament.

I got some good laughs out of it. Unintentionally but nevertheless. So entertaining to some degree. But not from the point where the movie want it to be coming from. But I know this is a very low budget Kickstarter affair. You need know that going into it. Even if that is not an excuse for everything. So I appreciate the effort. The music is great. I can totally get behind the appeal of it. But the idea didn't fully came together.

But it was a waste (in my opinion). Bad acting, a lead with no charisma, very obvious editing mistakes, bad pacing (over an hour before the tournament starts) and so-so to OK fighting. To each their own.

I attended the film's premiere in Dusseldorf and was very impressed by the cast. Kurt McKinney and Matthias Hues were great buddies in real life. The guy who played the lead in this movie was just okay, nothing special. A film made by fans for fans. It's more of a C category movie 😂. The creators have plans for further productions and I will support them. I hope these guys improve their directing skills in future films. Best in the movie was Music. Matthias Hues definitely had the most fun in the movie. Kurt McKinney and Billy Blanks are definitely the highlights of this movie.

Don’t think I’ve ever been so bored watching a “movie”. It’s just not the 80s any more, no matter how much we want it to be. Watch a great low-budget action movie like King of the Kingboxers instead. Amazing fights, great characters, quality soundtrack, action perfection.

i believe ROTHROCK and HUES already did couple of those movies that "re-united" all the oldschool guys into one movie which seems to be a whole new genre.....i wonder how this compares to these horribly cheap "20 forgotten oldschool has-beens in ONE movie" (gary daniels, c thomas howell, don dragon wilson, michael madsen and such ....., very intriguing for an oldschool fan to find out, but even more painful to watch the trailer) even though this is a fanfilm, i would assume they are all equally unwatchable... i follow the guy (sean david) here on yt where hes got his moviechannel..from what i heard it was succesful (#1 online)

I streamed it and the sound quality was awful. I don't know if it was just something that had to do with the streaming copy I had access to or if it was just a flaw with the film itself. Either way, I could hardly hear anything and had to use subtitles. On the positive side, the movie had some decent fight scenes and I liked Billy Blanks and some of the other famous martial artists, but the end product was on the level of one of the Bloodsport sequels at best.

1:24 Exactly! 3:13 Agreed bro hell even the first 2 ''Bloodfist'' films didn't make us wait that long for the tournment to start when compared to this film. 3:41-4:14 A very fantastic point Matt you bring up there. 4:40 LOL!!! To me he sword of looks like actor Nick Stahl from T3. 6:26 Oh!! you mean the girl with the big nose? 🤣🤣🤣🤣😜😜😜😜 10:15 Yep that scene is very noticable I'm shock they left that screw up in. 11:08 He did bring how Hues's character did broke his leg or something like that? Hench why I guess he didn't go after him? Which I call BS on. 11:35 I know right? He should've been the lead just by his moves alone. 17:48 Sadly from what I understand he was suppose to be in the film a lot more but he had weight lefting injury that kept him doing a a lot of the fight scenes in this film. 18:46 It sure was it felt very cheesy to me along with that song used for the end credits too. 20:11 That's fair I feel even David himself would admit that bro I felt both him Billy Blanks should've been the leads like if David's character was to come to him for help take down Hues's character they both compete in the kumite together you didn't need the fake Nick Stahl character at all or his daughter being kidnap sub plot either maybe keep Kurt McKinny's character's wife being kidnap and such the girl with the big nose who does lame muy thai moves kill her off have Kurt's character rescue his wife along with her sister on his own have a way better one on one fight with Micheal Qussi. 22:17 Which Van Damme calls that ''Double Impact'' edits which I never hated at all either I agree with you 100%. 26:05 I actually felt Billy Blanks didn't do a bad job at all especially in the scene when he explains to the lead guy what happen to his wife and daughter with tears in his eyes. 26:27 He was my biggest issue in this film he come off more as a wannabe cartoonish version of Connor Mcgregor's performance in the ''Road House'' remake IMHO. 33:26 I felt that was the dumb mistake of villain not to kill all because one of Hues hoes says not to WTF? 34:43 YES!! I am so happy I'm not the only one who notice that stupid screw up they did there🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

38:26 I actually enjoyed part 5 more then you did I wasn't the biggest fan of part 4 which you was a way bigger fan of then me which is cool bro we agree to disagree. 39:47 Yes I don't flat out hate the film yes it could've been miles better I'm glad I seen it once but I have zero desire to own the blu ray at all if they are decide to do another film like a sequel or something like that they should get rid this director and Oilver Harper and get J.J.Perry to direct and some body else who knows exactly how to edit these type of films a whole better that's just my 2 cents and also make the Viking Samuari/David the lead give him more fight scenes and also some time to work on his acting some. BTW did you hear when they wrote this script with Scott Adkins in mind as the lead? 41:04-45:11 Very well put Matt! 46:10 Yes I agree but disagree with him about Jalal Merhi. A very fantastic job on the video hopefully the writer/producer of this film Sean David Lowe doesn't get all pissed at you about your 100% honest feelings on this film? LOL!

Ok, I just watched the trailer on Oliver Harper's channel. He does a lot of those film retrospectives on his channel. I think every KZitemr who does film analysis wants to be a filmmaker now. I read one of the comments and it said not having Van Damme in it as a cameo was a sin. I haven't seen The Last Kumite' yet but I think if they got JCVD to do a cameo, it definitely would have made up for all the bad acting and editing. I get what they were going for with the 80s action movie look, but nostalgia can be a double edged sword. I think they took this shit way too seriously. IMO it should have been more tongue in cheek and over the top. Trying to make it too much like Bloodsport and Kickboxer, but it kinda ends up being up its own ass.

This is not a fair review at all. When I read comments here, I see that nobody is truly informed. Anyway. its not a perfect but really fun homage movie. Great Music, true old school fights. And everybody who says its a bloodsport clone, does not understand what an homage is. ....
@ramboraph4life

How is it not fair? There are editing mistakes. It's not a good homage. These fights are not old school in the way they are edited and filmed. Too much shaky hand held, and the editing is not crisp like the older days.

Old school fights 🤣🤣🤣 They look like they do in every modern DTV action B-movie. Nothing about this movie (except possibly the music) screams 80s or even 90s to me. Just the usual shakycam BS. And the Kumite set-up looked better suited to a high school play. Unoriginal. Don’t care if it’s a “homage”. Disc is now a coaster.
