Hello everyone! We managed to get this out in good time today as Natalie did a great job with the edit getting through copyright checks on the 2nd attempt 😃We are both still learning with the editing as its only our 5th reaction video. Thank you for all the support on our previous videos and we hope you enjoy!

Thanks Natalie for the edit. I didn't play the game, many of your viewers may not have. There is a different perspective when you are not concerned about a re-creation of the game play beat for beat but of the story's themes and character development which is why they added the Kathleen character to have someone embody the bad motives and behavior this encounter is about. The story is all about situation ethics. Conflicting motives and behavior choices. I would suggest you leave the discussion of variations or similarities of the game to the part of your video after the initial review.

@@gailseatonhumbert hey Gail 👋 hope you've had a good week! Thanks for the feedback, can we check, do you mean leave the game comparisons till the last section of the video? Or into a separate video entirely? Your feedback is really useful as we've been reflecting about how to tailor our reaction to a gamer and non gamer audience. At the moment we still tend to geek out throughout the episode and compare to the game. It's hard not too when we are so excited 😂 but we appreciate that may not be relatable to an audience who doesn't have that context The addition of Kathleen was fantastic and gave meaning / depth to the antagonists across these last two episodes!

Ellie and Joel switch sides at the end. That was the Tess moment from episode 2. Ellie runs ahead while Joel is still waiting at the grave. Tess gave Joel a mission he wanted to fulfill as her last wish. The relationship that Joel had with Tess was similar to Ellie and Sam. Ellie promised Sam the cure here and couldn't keep this promise. She now wants to make sure that this never happens again. As Tess said at the time "save who you can save". Ellie really has a mission now. Indirectly get through her feelings of guilt. She wants her blood to work. Before that, she was someone who had no control over anything. Others have determined where she grows up and where she has to go now. Now that has changed. Now conviction plays a role and she takes control. She wants to save the world so that there are no more Sam's. In addition, Ellie and Joel have reached a new level of connection with each other. Wordless understanding. Both wanted to save the brothers during the attack. That wasn't Joel's "don't do it Ellie" look. That was the look "I'll give you fire protection Ellie". And Ellie has absolute confidence in Joel.

Hey Coyote 👋Love this insight! I love that bit at the end! Ellie is already starting to lead Joel, and Joel has started to realise how precious she is to him. He desperately wants to protect someone successfully. 😢 Wasn't the acting from Ellie (Bella) incredible in this episode? Your spot on , Ellie is experiencing all this pain, and hope will build that she has the cure to prevent it. We've just watched HBOs "Inside the episode". The scene with all the infected was real actors and actresses! Amazing 🎉

What do you suppose Joel would have done to Henry if Henry did to Tommy what he did to Kathleen's brother? You know the answer. & seeing as you've played the game, you know what Joel ultimately does. It's not good, arguably worse than anything Kathleen did. So it's interesting to ponder why our reactions would differ. Perhaps it says something more about ourselves than about the objectively similar situations. & perhaps it says something we don't like, so we instinctively try to rationalize & make ourselves feel morally superior in some brittle way. It's the brilliance of Neil's creation. It's his central thesis.

It's all about perspective right? When we play as a character and live their experiences we form an attachment and justify their actions. If the antagonist does exactly the same, we cannot accept it. But as you say, there is no difference - neither parties are right or wrong. I think Neil wants us to reflect on this and our polarised world. Despite all this, I (Lucas) still ended up having an emotive reaction to Kathleen!

It would be nice to think that in the face of countless atrocities visited upon friends and family and neighbors I could hang onto my humanity in the way it seems Kathleen's brother Michael did. And it sounds like it was particularly brutal in KC. But. It seems much more likely that most of us become hardened out of necessity like a Kathleen or a Joel or.... what we see in part 2 of the game. Don't get me wrong. I'm team Sam and Henry, they're too sympathetic and sweet and I was glad the clicker kid got Kathleen so they could escape, but I find it hard to truly judge Kathleen. I can't say for certain if I lived thru all that I wouldn't blindly seek vengeance if someone sold my family to be beaten to death over several days. Also can't say for sure I wouldnt sacrifice someone else to save a loved one like Henry. I'd like to think I wouldn't, but I can't say for sure. It's just we spent a lot of nice time with Sam and we never got to know Michael. If we did the Bill and Frank style 20 yr journey but with Michael and Kathleen and it ended with Michael being tortured to death? Woof there is a non-zero chance I end up team Kathleen. It's wild to think about.

Thanks for your thoughts permberleigh! Hard to know how we would behave till we end up in these impossible situations. All we can do is try and be the best versions of our selves we can, and make the moral decision where possible. What the show did (as it and the game always do) is make us have a strong emotional responses towards Kathleen, that prompt conversations like this! Hope you enjoyed the reaction 😁

@@herfault_hisfault yeah thats one of my favorite things about the franchise is the psychology of it tbh. The way it gives a perspective, then flips it, then flips it again. And how people ride those shifts. It's truly fascinating. And of course the brutal, raw emotions of it all. Game + show, some of the best content ever made imo. Man. If they give us a horizon zd show that's even half as good as they've done this show, I'll be happy. But I'm nervous bc I don't think gg is involved like Neil is with this show. 😅 Look forward to the next ep!

Completely agree! There arent many other game series / tv shows that have had such a lasting emotional impact on us as viewers. When we played Part 2 we were calling our friends every 2-3 hours to update each other and discuss what we had experienced! I had forgotten that Horizon was being made into a show! gg = Guerilla Games right? I agree its a worry when the creators arent closely involved. Watched the next episode this morning, reaction dropping imminently! 🎉

spoiler of game: was hoping to see shiv room for Joel that many players miss when following Henry in game the room c/ bunks Kathleen is standing by was in game Kathleen's bunch would've probably killed the old sniper man if he gave up to Joel so... is Ellie thinking she isn't a possible cure OR is she thinking it's going to take a bunch more than blood? is this failed sharing blood scene a foreshadow?

Hey Primarch 👋 Haha I wonder if they will do a reference to a shiv door at some point! That's cool that the bunk room was in game, didn't realise that!
